Rear Fog lamps, fantastic annoyance for those of us following people who have no idea they even have rear fog lamps (I'm talking to you! You stupid old woman who drives your blue Golf GTI over 3 mile hill every morning and drive so badly you should have got a Yaris)

Just as well. I've seen several people suckered into undertaking a car apparently turning into a driveway on the right but it was the old "swing right over before pulling into a drive on the left" move favoured by the elderly.

You obviously don't live in Auckland where some motorway exits are on the right. So everyone on the right lane that wants to exit and slows down will trigger a standstill in all the other lanes ...

Not to mention during traffic congestion periods if the right lane is not moving the left lane is not allowed to move?

I am struggling to think of one that still exits to the right.

Every day this week I have had to undertake someone travelling on SH1 (Mosgiel to Dunedin); today the car in front went from the on ramp directly to the passing lane and then couldn't overtake the person on the left lane. As a result I was stuck behind two cars doing around 90km/hr. Eventually the car on the left turned off to Fairfield and I was able to undertake to get pass.

I checked back several times and saw the same car being undertaken by others - they seemingly had no intention of driving in the left lane

Flash the high beams till they move over. Escalate to horn if they do not comply. Havent had to horn for ages on the motorway in Auckland. Usual cause is a truck doing 60-70 in the middle lane and someone too chicken to pass it so they just sit behind it in the fast lane.

I don't understand why people are so bothered by people that drive with just their position marker lamps on. How does it actually affect you? And of course you get a power (energy) bill. Every time you put petrol in the car.

Deterrent or solution? If you're leaving it on to deter would-be tail-gaters, then you're also selfishly blinding all the other road users.

Personally, I can't remember the last time anyone tail-gated me. Perhaps because I do my best to be in the appropriate lane. If it's happening so much to you, maybe they're not the problem. Say, you weren't on SH1 southbound from Newmarket to Manukau at about 9:45am today, were you?

@Cadman I think the issue with park lights is that they stay that way when it is dark.

You've never driven in Dunedin have you.
You can do whatever you like, they don't move.

The only way I've ever managed to get someone to move over, was to undertake then brake in front of them while indicating left, when we were doing half the limit, they moved. As soon as I pulled away and moved left, they moved back. The second time, they got the message.

Talking to someone who immediately moves right when getting on the motorway, the explanation was, I'm turning right (in 13km, when the motorway ends).

However, all of this is far less aggravating or dangerous than those who keep right till the bottom of saddle hill then take the off ramp to Mosgiel (in 5:00 traffic)

Are you my wife? That is exactly what she does on that stretch of road to get Dunedin drivers to go into the left lane.

The one that gets to me are the drivers who insist on staying in the right hand lane heading up saddle hill (toward Mosgiel) doing 90-ish and then staying in that lane all the way down the other side and carry on to the airport. Every Taxi I have ever seen there does this.

Mind you transit should take some blame because they have a "LANE ENDS" sign above the left lane... It should be above the right lane
