I think the legislation on vehicle noise has been totally ineffective. There is no will to enforce the law. It is not a priority.

Some of the Harleys down my way are incredibly loud. There is no way they could pass a WOF if the rules were applied. Either they find friendly testers who don't care or swop out the mufflers for warrants.

The problem is it's such a loud base noise double glazing or other measures are barely effective.

It seems sad that people own and get pleasure out of running such machines for the sole reason they will cause a nuisance to others.

The annoying thing is, that if I were to replace the exhausts on my 300 BHP V8 Land Rover with something 'sporty' to let the V8 sing, there is no doubt I would be pinged by PC Plod in a matter of days...! Not that I would do that for a road going vehicle, as I am 50 not 15 and it no longer amuses me, but there we are.
