I'll have to check if they've actually been removed all together. I'm pretty sure there is still a separator there. Perhaps not as pronounced as the solid line that's in the imagery.
My exact first thought, if that's how it's still marked. The straight through lane shouldn't be marked like that at all - there should be a spiral marked from the left side of the roundabout to the end of the traffic island at the exit. I should know - I've done road marking design work in the past - a lot of it to do with roundabouts.
It looks like they marked a new flush median eliminating a second northbound lane which merged and neglected to remark the roundabout to reflect this. That wouldn't even surprise me given the calibre of the traffic engineers I've personally dealt with.
Turns out this roundabout isn't marked the same way. It's missing the dotted line through the middle. Although, the flow of traffic still behaves as if it's two lanes due to the distance between the exit of triangle road and the entrance from Don Buck towards Westgate. People coming from Don Buck Road are almost always "failing to give way" to those on their right. I suspect the fact that those coming from triangle road are on a bit of a hill and are slow from a stand still.
Just a slight twist in the situation. We received the official notes for the tribunal appearance the other day with the other person's "report". Which was basically a one liner stating that Katy hit him, not the other way around. This is clearly not the case considering the direction he was coming from, the damage to his vehicle and the damage to ours.
Also, previously, we were building a case around the bullying tactics from their insurance company. I'm scrapping that, as I feel it won't get Katy anywhere in this instance. This is her vs. the other driver. The damage suggests the other driver was careless (as well as Katy)
I accept Katy was probably to blame to some extent, but feel as if the other party could have prevented this from happening just as easily.
