Just to explain the use of phones on the forecourt thing - it's not because the phone itself might cause an explosion if you're using it, more that you're more likely to drop it if you're using it.  When dropped, having the battery pop out and/or spark IS more likely, and a potential hazard.

As a motorbike rider I guess I can't use this as I can't remain inside my car while paying. Was really looking forward to not having to take off helmet etc to go inside and pay. I used to only go to Z so I could pay at the pump until I found out how much more my bike prefers 98 fuel....all the Z stations around me only have 95, not sure if this is a nation wide thing or not?

"while inside your stationery vehicle" So I think if you are enclosed by your motorbike windscreen, the rear of your seat and under the motorbike roof - AKA helmet; then I'd deem you inside of your vehicle :)

Surely dropping a set of keys is more likely to cause sparks than dropping a piece of plastic?

Not with the size of the battery in a phone - Galaxy Note7's don't even need to be dropped ;-)

Keys are brass, I think. In which case they won't spark.

My phone has the battery sealed inside, so it can't just pop out. I suppose that if I dropped it hard enough, the case and battery could fracture and cause a fire.

Just wondering what everyone's experience is like now this has been effect for nearly a year?

My main concern in using the app is the hold that others were talking about on your credit/debit card.  When I fill up I usually just use the fill option, never an amount.

Was using Z stations but realised flybuys points aren't really a drawcard now and happy to switch to the aa rewards as we shop at countdown so can get discount off fuel that way I think??

Personally I don't have a problem with the hold thing.

But I really am enjoying the experience of the BPMe app. I haven't used it much, but each time I do, it's been seamless. Even better that I can easily use my AA smart fuel discounts.
Not having to go inside is fantastic. Though it does take a little time to get used to - driving in then just driving off.

While I know this is about BPMe, I am quite surprised that Z went down the route they did.. It seems like an over complicated way of doing it. Requiring new cameras for each lane at each station. I don't know if they do holds, I assume they do.

I put $40 in at a time to claim and accumulate the discount. When I have enough we fill the car and pay inside. The best thing about the app is the ability to order coffee.

My experiences with BP Me have been as follows:

 - One attempt in Queenstown failed because I started the app and selected a pump before I realised that the particular pump had high flow diesel which I understand is only suitable for trucks and buses. When I selected 'cancel' the app reported an error, so I just abandoned the pump and it didn't appear to charge me anything.

 - One attempt in Invercargill failed as soon as I selected the pump. The app just threw a vague error message.

 - Three other attempts worked fine - two in Levin and one in Richmond.

I would say it's like most iPhone apps - great when it works but generally unreliable.

Love the BP Me app. Do both partial fills ($40) and full tanks and don’t have an issue with the $150 hold they put on our card. We have a specific credit card for all things car related which we add money to so the holds aren’t a problem... although the wife asked me the other day why it always cost me $150 to fill up - turned out she just happened to look each time there was a hold.

Was a bit weird the first few times as it felt like we were driving away and not paying but they always gave us a smile and wave as we left.

Now I get annoyed as I wait for people to go inside and pay before they move off.

Have started to see others using BP Me as well now and it does speed things up not having to go in and queue to pay, especially on days where the discount is higher and queues are bigger.

App hasn’t missed A beat ever for me ever and I use it all the time / update it regularly (iOS).

Someone posted about high flow diesel, you can use this but the nozzle is much larger so may not fit in your filler. Best to go half speed though else you will get splash back !

What they now need is the coffee app to work with bp2go or at least have it able to be used as a stamp card for them. I do realise they are different offers but it makes sense to use the tech.

I’ve never had a problem just driving away!

Should be fine on most cars - just don't pull the trigger all the way in and it won't flow as fast.

Err no.
Long before, back in the days of ni cad batteries.....(which by the way were locked in very well on those old bulky handsets....
It’s been well documented (inc you tube clips), of instances where use of cellular phones and in the right conditions caused static electricity....which isn’t a good thing to mix with fuel vapour (fuel Vapour is more dangerous than the spark point of fuel itself).

I use the BPMe app every fill since it went live (won't actually fill completely, only up to $125) and it works every time. I never have had a charge hold put on my card as such - being AMEX I don't know if that makes and difference. I check my CC transactions online daily and the day I fill it shows as a pending transaction, next day it's on the statement much like every other transactions on my card.

Have had a few strange looks, just getting back in the car and driving off though.

Thanks for all the feedback.

Just wondering with using the specified amount what is the largest amount you can choose? Is it multiples of $20 or $40? If I specified $120 and my car didn’t use the whole amount of petrol does it hold the extra amount?
