Z do. I've never seen a Caltex with pay at pump - which is one of the reasons I've never really used them because two Caltex sites near places I frequently are both stick prepaid signs up and I refuse to deal with a petrol station that does this. If they're got a drive off problem then deal with it with technology, don't inconvenience your customers.

Is it THAT much of an inconvenience?

Assuming

- you have to go into the store and pay and
- you are doing a $40 top up

then before or after filling doesn't matter much.   (exception:  how much is a full tank?)

Having said that, I much prefer the "Pay at pump" or phone app solutions which mean I don't have to go into the store...

It's a huge inconvenience. You end up in a big queue - because half the people end up having to go back twice because they're filling up and there doesn't seem to be any real process for actually filling up - some want you to give them your credit card to look after while you fill up which breaches my banks credit card T&C.

I'm not into this whole putting $40 in which is just a waste of time.

I can confirm Fly Buys Pumped IS working at Caltex Old Hutt Road, looks like all they have done is loaded the Z branded software onto the terminal and removed the fuel docket options. There is a small wait while it checks if you have any stacked discounts pending.

As it stands going by Gaspy if you use your Fly Buys card its now the cheapest petrol in Wellington, it is about 30c/l more if you go up the road to Porirua.

One can use diff cards.  Is the AirNZ card the same as using the Caltex app with the AirNZ card loaded?

Can one also use the Caltex app with Z Energy interchangeably?   Also, how can one check their accumulated discounts online?  Is this on the apps?

Thanks.

I needed to fill up so stopped by there yesterday on my way into Wellington. They had somebody standing there handing out pumped flyers and helping people with the terminals.

This now makes it the cheapest place in Wellington with the discount.

Unless you bought at Briscoes, who is now giving discounts on the AA card. I am sure they will have a sale sometime soon...

Today is 10c promo.  I can confirm also I went to Old Hutt Road Caltex and I got my 10c stacked (accumulation).  I used my AirNZ card, the Caltex app which is linked to the same card number shows the stacked amount.  It is using the Z system the Z logo is on the Caltex machine.  You can select to 'use' or 'stack' your points.

The last couple of days prominent calex and Mobil stations have had workers at their signs

Sure enough 2 examples today have copied z ans switched on
their newly added discounted prices as a 3rd option.

Guess the false inflation is here to stay unless CC find a way to punish them

Can you elaborate on this?  Johnsonville Mobile was closed for some maintenance yesterday.  What is this discounted as a 3rd option?

Pump 91
Pump diesel
Pump discounted 91 by means of whatever stupid scheme is in place afteryou swipe price

Go look at a z that support pumped and you'll probably find 3 prices on the board. Same thing.
They were slapped on the hand for it previously as it was not separated enough so wasn't clear - gave the impression it was cheap for all. Now they have them surrounded a different color with the discount branding

They'll all spending $$ to show their discount prices on the LCD screens yet say they can't display the price of 95 because it'll cost too much to update their price boards.

Since Z and caltex are the only 2 near me with 95, they are really taking the P with their pricing of it with it being 20c more than 91, because they know that the only other option is to go to BP or mobil and get 98 which is even more again. Obviously they dont want to put that rip off on the sign but are quite happy to put the pumped price on a new bright white LED sign for people that cant subtract.

Just received an email from AA Smartfuel saying they are taking their min spend off so you can get the discount regardless of spend, but you still have to spend $40 to accumulate.

Guessing Mobil Smiles will announce the same thing soon?
