I ride as well, been using this since it came out and its great on a bike.

Most of the time I remove gloves (so I can use my smartphone) but keep my helmet on.

As long as you get off your bike you should be fine.

Use the app all the time and it's great. I do find it tends to crash after I've been and gone but I've got my petrol, they've got their money so don't really care.

I really like Eftpos at the pump. It avoids having to walk inside and stand in a queue, and also avoids having to stuff around with an iPhone app.

I don't know why BP didn't just go with this solution, but I guess there is a novelty factor associated with the app.

eftpos at pump has been tried and tested... The ones at mobil fail all the time. The cost of maintaining etc etc etc.

Card readers fail, software jams.... and the fact that all units would have to share the same connection so would add to 'longer processing times'.

App based on your personal device is the way now.... no novelty to see here.

I've been using the Mobile pay at pump machines for quite a while now and the worst that's happened to me is that on multiple occasions, they've run out of paper roll for the receipts. Otherwise it's worked every time, even with my Mobil Smiles card.

Has anyone looked into what the app is doing i.e. im pretty sure its collecting data of sorts... but just what, when, how.

Have you actually used the app..? After opening it takes all of 15 seconds to have the pump authorized and ready to go...

I like the Gull pay at pump as its the bare minimum, do your thing and it's ready. With Mobil/Z etc it asks if you've got a voucher, Airpoints card or whatever. I just want my damn fuel!

LPT for the fuel discount vouchers from the supermarket, just take a photo of them with your phone so you dont have to carry them around in your wallet. Then just scan the code off your phone when you need it next :)

Installed it the other day, closed it, went to servo, opened it, it asked for PW and secret question answer.

Deleted it, went inside and used android pay.

EDIT: Obviously have to edit this for all the rabid petrol discount people. I never asked how.

I don't care about discount.

For me that is a reasonable sum of money, but I don't really understand the various loyalty schemes so I just time my fuel stops for places where I know fuel is a bit cheaper than the national price - i.e. Levin, Napier, Rotorua, etc.

Either way, it's better in my pocket than theirs.
