Probably moot as cars will be self driving in the future and we'll all slowly get seating arrangements that are optimised around there being no required driver.

I think we are a long way off from people owning a fully autonomous car. There will still be a need for manually piloting them for a long time when not on managed roading networks. Like pulling into your garage etc. But the side of the car that the person doing that on is really immaterial vs when driving along highways etc where it does matter.
