I went to local VTNZ just now and purchased 10,000KM of RUC's and they charged me only an extra $1 over the NZTA website. Also gave me a RUC label sleeve. Painless.

Do whatever you want to do man.

Biggest stress will be getting the label pouch lined up so it doesn't look whack.

This is where a dual pouch would be ideal! Though I'm not convinced by Tessories' version of this (the only one I've seen) as I'd rather not have the advertising nor have it in a dark colour:

I am not investing in some fancy double holder for something which hopefully will not be a long term blemish on the car.

Get the double pouch, but trim the excess border?

I tried buying 5000km using the beta NZTA app and it refreshed its built in browser during showing the payment page and now when I try to do it again it says my current start KM is already 5000 higher and I have 0 RUC. I guess I’m calling them tomorrow.

What do you mean you've saved far more than leaving it to the last min?

I meant I drove more than $1 worth of RUC and by just going to the post shop today instead of ordering online we overall spent less than if we'd ordered online earlier with a lower odometer reading.

Frustrates we tried to declare at a round number and my partner misunderstood so now we have a weird number just short of a round 1000 figure stuck on the RUC label. Was really hoping to land an even number and then buy in chunks that made it easy to remember, like 15000-20000.

Impressed with NZTA: purchased RUC online last Sunday, and label arrived in mail today.

If they're not driving the vehicle, or parking it in public, then no problem. If they are and get pulled over and checked then things are likely to get fairly expensive.
