alasta:

so I just time my fuel stops for places where I know fuel is a bit cheaper

This is what I do.

Here we have fuel cycles, unless I'm down to 50kms until empty, I'll wait for fuel to be cheaper.

Aaroona:

$4-8 is a lunch, or a coffee or two.

Either way, it's better in my pocket than theirs.

$4 of my time isn't worth the BS that comes with it. Might be fine for you.

And I don't drink coffee, so the extra cards, and loyalty, and shopping dockets, and other schemes... I can't be bothered.

AA cracks me up... you pay them to get a couple of cents off fuel... you... pay... them. lol

(but this thread isn't about discounts and loyalty)

I don't care what anyone else does, I'm just saying I want to swipe my phone at the pump and be on my way.

You do realise you can accumulate discounts via shopping? which is where most of mine come from.

Doesn't require me to keep hold of any receipts and I only have to swipe a card when buying groceries, otherwise the BPMe app takes care of it all for me..

Different strokes for different folks, but this is what works for me.

Don't care. We shop online and get delivery with whoever the Mrs likes the prices of at the time. Or the very local supermarket (that's not a chain).

And I don't wanna be tracked by shopping either.

Not worth the $4

:D

edit: again, I just wanna pay for fuel and be out as fast as possible.

And If I really cared about the $4, I probably wouldn't drive a V8  laughing

I don't understand why so many people spend time and effort to save $4-8 on a tank of fuel.

It's because it's a trivial effort for a non-trivial amount - depending on your fuel usage that's several hundred dollars per year for the effort of a one-off setup time in the app. Basically, it's a good return on investment of time.

Your experience with the BP app was obviously poor, but from my experience, it's quick, easy and painless.

hahaha... see the last line of my edit.

edit again: I don't want discount, I want out as fast as possible. If the app did this, all good, but swiping my phone is quicker. And that's what I want.

I don't belong to AA so pay them nothing, but have a Countdown card (which costs me nothing) and still get AA fuel discounts at BP. I don't get the lol ?

Forget it... Most people are AA members.. you pay to be a member, if you don't woohoo! have a lollipop.

FFS, just because I don't want an effing discount, I just want to pay and go.

I don't give a toss what you do with your life.

You might want them to check your water as well while you're at the servo, sounds like you're overheating :)

HAHAHA, yeah, nice, whatevs.. I just can't understand everyone telling me I'm missing out, and how easy it is, because I don't want a discount.

What I do doesn't effect anyone!

You petrol savers  are nuts! laughing

Edit: It is 38 degrees here today. :D

No discount on my bike fuels anyhow, yet... Been a while since I've seen a $40 fill. Unless you'll tell me that threshold has changed ...

I personally couldn't give a rats a** what the price of fuel is, we both drive V8 VE Commodores and they are tuned for 98 fuel.

The convenience of the app is great for me, it's loading on my phone before I even get to the pump and the pump is ready to go when I switch off the engine. The bonus of a discount for doing nothing is, well - just a bonus.

I don't go out of my way for it other than BP is my closet servo for 98 gas.

blakamin: I just can't understand everyone telling me I'm missing out, and how easy it is, because I don't want a discount.

I think people (myself included) thought you didn't understand why other people chose to do it, because you said

blakamin:I don't understand why so many people spend time and effort to save $4-8 on a tank of fuel.

and they were trying to explain why they do it.

If you don't want the discount - no problem, perfectly valid reasons.cool

Because it was a reply to someone saying "how do you get your AA discount".

I'll edit it....

Everywhere here has 91 and 98... 95 is harder to find. My X5 uses either 95 or 98.

I just want paywave. Less apps with my card numbers, knowing my other apps, no telling BP where I am... Google knows that biz, BP don't need to.

I have zero loyalty cards for anywhere. I do have a Qantas frequent flyer card from when I used to travel. Never used any points on it for anything but flights, and never got any points from anything but flights.

AFAIK it's the same... It's got the same name. And does the same thing.

Ours has a 2.2 rating on google... version 1.14.0
