When I was in Japan, Korea and China, I was amazed to notice that such densely populated cities (with the exception of Seoul) do not have the same traffic congestion as us in Auckland. I attribute this to more readily available and cheap public transport, along with more tightly packed cities, requiring less commuting. Simply put, NZ's roads are meant for cars, not other means of transport.

Here in Auckland we need to seriously rethink our transportation infrastructure. Putting a toll on the bridge is a start, but a lot of people are going to pay it nonetheless. Take the toll money and put it towards public transport and we'll be good2go. There will be less road rage if people are less stressed and impatient due to traffic jams.
