700 page introductory toner

still, why would anyone buy consumables with such deals happening every few months?

I'm usually not much of a greenie, but I'm a bit surprised that these printer manufacturers aren't being questioned on their environmental policies (unless they have and I've missed it) by continuing with strategies that make it more cost-effective to throw away and buy a replacement printer, rather than buying replacement ink/toner.

You can buy cheap refills for most lasers which work well from my experience. I have an older version of this printer which works well, but this one has wifi and networking which is quite a cool feature.

From my past experience HP are very slow at processing cashbacks, and it does say 75 days which is over 2 months,

The reviews on it are not to bad, good for printing out text / word / excel etc.

I would get one but i have not needed to print anything for years.

I managed to pick 2 up, my credit card failed about 3 times though before it was accepted, so I think there website may have been overloaded. I will give one of them away to a family member who was needing a printer. HP do tend to make good lasers, and am sure this be will be good enough.

I've got 2 perfectly good printers in storage, one I might use for parts (as it is the same model as my current printer), and reluctant to throw the other away because it is a perfectly good printer -- i couldn't even sell on trademe for 1/2 the price of the inks alone.

I agree, printer manufacturers need to sort this out.

It probably requires government intervention, by building the cost of recycling into the purchase price. But part of the problem is that they give away the printer so they can get people purchasing very expesnive consumables. Rather than selling the printers at the true price, and selling the consumables far cheaper. Part of the reason why these ones were cheap/free, is becuase they aren't duplex, as people tend to want duplex now.

Im not buying any more till I have used up the starter toner in my brother colour one that I got a while back.

If I end up doing a lot of B&W then I might get another B&W laser since I can use dirt cheap refills in it, but I think it will be a long time till this one is emptied out.
