I've seen the Nexus 5x in operation...and it's more than good enough.

Are the prices USD or NZD in that store for NZ visitors? If it is USD seems high compared to pricespy.

Should show up in NZD (i.e. $1099 for 32gb 6P), and yes "pricey" compared with pricespy as those are mostly parallel imported.

That is the price it shows but no currency indication on the store or at the checkout.

No GST component at the checkout so I'm guessing this is also an import.

I guarantee you it's NZD if that's the price you're seeing. If it was USD that would be about $1600 NZD!!

Depends how you look at it. Technically everything is an import, because none of the phones are made here. However buying from the NZ google store will have gst covered already, even if it's not specifically documented

It says on the T&C..

https://store.google.com/intl/en_nz/about/device-terms.html

Terms of Sale for Devices - New Zealand

All prices include GST.

But it says the company is Google Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd, which is not a NZ Company. (but a singapore company)

I didn't think non NZ companies could collect GST?

If I buy for example an iphone from apple its billed from a NZ Company.

Anyone explain?
