On Amazon right now, Essential phone with camera is $399.

It does say it won't ship to NZ but I have been able to select a NZ address and looks like they will send it.

Get it this week, and including import charges it is showing just under $800nz

I saw that deal also and put it in my basket since the deal has 22 hours to run when I did that. Then they ran out of stock. But a few hours ago stock returned so I bite the bullet and bought it with shipping to a US address since I have somebody who can bring it back for me. But the shipping date is from Dec 3 to Jan 9 so they clearly don't have any stock. You must have got the first batch.

Interesting they said they would ship to NZ. Let us know how that goes.

I had heard the camera was rubbish but that it's improved and you can also use the Google camera which is way better but apparently does not take advantage of the two cameras?

It was a 22 hour cyber Monday deal which clearly has now expired

Its not getting very good reviews, I expected better given its minimalist design. :-(

Seems alright, but far from perfect. Main issues I see is camera is sub par, it's expensive/difficult to repair, and probably not going to hold up very well if dropped.

So unless you really like the design or get a great price I'd look at other options. e.g. OnePlus.

The camera got the worst rap but apparently you can fix that by using the Google camera. But it won't take advantage  of the two cameras in the phone but a later software update remedies that. For $399 including the VR camera it's a great deal.
