Rather just buy from the US when I am there later this year
iPhone 18 Pro 256GB = $1199USD = $2049 NZD
Same phone here is $2549 NZD saving of $500 and not tied to any Carier
plus, imported iPhones work anywhere because they carry every network VoLTE Profile and have every frequency.

US iPhones are purely eSim though? And the warranty only applies to the original country of purchase. Couple that with the lack of CGA support and I'd be wary of the $500 savings.
I was tempted to do the same, but decided against it.

Warranty location can be solved by purchasing AppleCare but if you weren’t already going to do that in NZ, it eats into the $500 savings a decent chunk.

Does that US price include state or local taxes? I’ve been burnt paying extra taxes buying things in the US but if there is no added tax then that’s an interesting deal.

It's $2094 in NZD. Add 15% GST and you're basically at the same price.

Pretty sure iPhones have global AppleCare warranty. Lack of CGA is possibly an issue, however.

That is always the issue. NZ prices are always including tax. US prices are plus tax.
