Although, the prices Amazon etc. offer for their sales events blow anything that we will see in NZ out of the water, and they do have ~$5 shipping on smaller items like SSD's and SD cards, so even after conversion and shipping the prices are much better, just a shame the NZD isn't up around 90 anymore!

:)
I don't mind supporting the local shops during sales, I tend to want things "now" or in a few days.
Plus CGA cover is always good as well.

The only time I look at amazon or overseas is for
1) when NZ shops are charging way to much (2 or 3 times more than overseas, 1 Example is pbtech charging $40 for a glass screen protector when it was $5 - 10 US on aliexpress, it was the same product. plastic cover $20 from pbtech when it was $1 on aliexpress).
2) when I can't find the item in NZ

That's fair enough, the problem I have with local stores is the vast majority of them tend to charge us more than the product is worth, even taking into account gst and shipping, you just have to look at Aus sale prices to see that. Yet they get away with it because until recently there have been no alternative options.

CGA is good where you can't offset it with a proper warranty of a product, for example, I purchased a SanDisk micro SD card from aus when I was traveling through, it died, so no CGA but Sandisk just wanted it sent to them in hong kong, so I taped it to the inside of an envelope and sent it, cost about $1.50. That would work for an ssd as well, but obviously not for a vacuum or a fridge. In that sense, there will always be products that us kiwis must buy locally, regardless of overseas competition.

Yea, screen protectors and phone cases have huge price disparities between "genuine" and "fake" products. Even massive overseas retailers make a killing selling a product that costs <$5 on EBay for $15-$20. Obviously in NZ they like to inflate it more. I was in a Dick Smith the other day listening to a salesman selling his $50 screen protector, the phone was likely only worth $250.

At the end of the day though, sales events like this aren't a bad thing, and the more competition that they create, the better.

Haven't found any new deals around though, hoping some will come around with some "5 hours only" sales to end the day.

mrtoken: Oh for all you lego nuts (like me)
http://www.toyco.co.nz/legoday

Nerf is also discounted

I've seen lego discounted upto and including 50%, 20%-30% whilst not nothing isn't really "special" as click Monday would infer it should be.

Although Mindstorms EV3 for $480 is pretty rare.

Did Eric Clapton really think she looked wonderful...or was it after the 15th outfit she tried on and he just wanted to get to the party and get a drink?

Yah sadly no time to play with those. :)

My 5 year old might struggle.

He has taken to lego as I hoped he would.

The other day I went into his room at 11am wondering why he hadn't woken up, to find him playing with lego. He had woken at 7:30am and played with it without a sound all that time. Forgot breakfast :)

Looks like Click Monday is back again this year. starts at 5PM today.

As usual, not expecting much, just retailers wanting to get rid of their overstocked/older items, but still like looking.

If I had money, some of the Lego at Toyco would excite me.
But once again the sales are just at the wrong time for someone on monthly pay.
So I will just wait for another sale at a better time .. its not like I need any Lego, IT equipment, clothes etc anyway
