Aeropostale has a 60% off plus Free $25 credit when you purchase $100 or more.

and they ship to New Zealand :)

http://www.aeropostale.com/

Good prices, freight kills it unfortunately. Went and added a whole lot to my cart  because it kept telling me that at NZD82.50 I'd get free shipping, but then it added shipping. Their free shipping fine print says not outside US/Can.

sbiddle: There are some good deals over at timbuk2.com - I've got one of their messenger bags I use daily for my laptop and also have a backpack. Both are fantastic.

How much did your shipping cost though?

scuwp: Depends what you are after I guess, but a quick round up of the on-line advertised offerings are the usual snooze-fest IMO.  In fact I have seen the odd item I have been watching cheaper from the same store in recent promotions.  These deal days are becoming like the boy who cried wolf...wonder why I bother even looking sometimes.

Agree.

Part of the reason is also that the cheapest price on many items like phones are offered by small drop-shipping companies and they just don't tend to enter the price wars of such 'sales' (I'm assuming it may be because they just don't have the margins to be able to do so and/or their usual price is still lower than the 'sale' price of the other retailers so they just don't have to do so). Thus far I've held out buying a new phone on the off-chance the model I'm after will be discounted over this period, but I've been disappointed thus far!

Agree.  It's almost to the point the retailers end up with negative vibes because they plugged a bit sale that didn't' eventuate to anything significant.
I guess it works for the masses and gets them through the door, but you've only got to be mucked about for so long before you start to stop taking notice.

Had spare time so called in to Harvey Norman, as one does. Checked out a couple of items on my to-buy list with big yellow for sale signs up. Unbelievably the sale price was the same as normal retail ticket underneath! Walked around the shop and looked under several 'Black Friday' sale signs and sure enough, same as the normal ticket price. How rude!!!!!

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

Yup, had a quick browse through Noel Leeming and the Warehouse. The Warehouse had 50% off Fisher Price toys and some cheap boardgames but the not much else. Yawn.
Noel Leeming tried with this WD 5TB external drive but that looks a bit lame compared to the Seagate version for about $200 NZD shipped from Amazon.

Not to mention illegal. Misleading consumers, is against the law.

While not available today, PB Tech has discounts on mobiles over the weekend - S5 for $588, S5 mini for $455, Honor 6 for $466 for example.

Deals are set out in an email and I can't find an online version of it so I'm happy to forward the email if requested.

We just bought a fridge and washing machine from there during one of the ordinary sales periods. The Black Friday deals on both are actually $300 more expensive each.

There ought to be a law against it. Oh wait. There is.

Saw this:

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1073680-REG/sony_hdr_as20_b_hdr_as20_compact_pov_action.html

Sony action cam.  These were actually pretty well featured, with phone wifi app, 1080p at 60 fps, 720p at 120 fps and in built digital stabilisation etc.
