I checked out the Xbox One, which seems better, but that's got it's own issues.
First world problems here for sure, but I don't see the PS4 offering much over the PS3 with regards to what I use it for, which is namely Blurays, video files and youtube on a non smart TV.

Yeah I've talked myself out of getting this deal too, lol.  I wish the xbox one was on a similar sale - it just seems like a better allround entertainment device while the PS4 definitely leads as a pure gaming console.

They will likely cancel the orders, as it is likely not intended to provide discount on discount, so likely an error. It is not as though it is advertised at that lower price.

I suspect the same.

https://www.choicecheapies.co.nz/node/2216

Looks like the 5% + 5% discount might stand (no idea if it is intended to apply on an already discounted item though...) but according to that post they can't be used with other offers so the extra 7% discount seems like pushing it.

You never know though.. they might choose to honour it in the interests of customer relations given that the website allowed it ;-)

Well that's the thing, if it should not be used with any other discount then their website should not do it :P

(I am not buying one as I would never use it).

They may claim a genuine human error. Also many websites are not tested for all permutations. Their websites isn't the greatest as it is.

Yeah not looking to derail this thread, but the PS4 does seem to be far more games orientated,.
Of late though they have pushed out more dedicated apps, and this is where they should be heading.
The PS3 just got spotify too which I stumbled upon quite by accident, so it now has youtube and spotify and Netflix too from memory.

Not having an IR port just seems ludicrous really, as does not allowing a remote to turn it on.
Sounds like Sony haven't released a bluray remote for the PS4 either, and the old PS3 one doesn't work with it for example.

The black is back in stock on their website so I've ordered one, didn't like the look of the white.
Discount applied on games too so I picked up two while I was at it.

Frustrating for something that was originally billed as a home media centre.

No, you would be thinking of the XBone.  PS4 has been marketed as a gaming console, they only released a media player for it a few weeks back

Ps4 will turn on over hdmi and you can fully drive it for media use with the tv remote so don't let that stop you buying one.

I wouldn't say you can "fully drive" it, Netflix for example cannot be fully controlled via TV Remote (certain functions do not work, such as escaping out of a playing show/movie), and other media apps such as Hulu don't work at all.

I ordered a white one. Do you think they will let the orders go through?

All comments are my own opinion, and not that of my employer unless explicitly stated.

Sorry I was meaning from the PS3 really. Yes the PS4 is definitely more gaming focused. Great for the price, don't get me wrong, just not necessarily the home media upgrade I need I don't think.

Codes no longer work.

I kept a page open from earlier today and will keep it open tomorrow, awaiting a response from MA regarding a price match.

Hopefully I will be able to go through with it, don't think so though.
