rb99: Bought a Samsung 850 500Gb from Amazon for $161.98 and saw today its now $147.99. Just asked if there was any chance of a refund for the difference and they said OK, so am getting $13.99 US back - and that's for something bought on the 6th. Pretty impressive I think. Don't think there's any guarantees after 7 days though.

Thanks for the tip. I've flicked them an email via their customer service area and am hoping for the best.

I went for the 850 pro (I have two), it lasted six times more writes in the SSD endurance test. The evo managed 100TB of writes without errors, the pro 600TB.

well I dropped the 1T sandisk into my 2013 macbook pro - wonderful! I was thinking about upgrading to a retina, but now I think I will stay with what I have, a dual boot with win10 too and a nice, fast, large drive.

*sigh I bought the 1TB and some special five star screw drivers, opened up my high end laptop ... and couldn't find the hard drive. there is no hard drive!!!!!!! apparently something called mSATA ....

Was pretty close to getting the PRO. But real world performance not going to be noticeable.
Actually was seriously looking at 950 Pro. But 100%+ cost for almost no perceivable real world performance gain.

My current Samsung 840 says I've done 11.78TB over it's 2.8 year life. Works out to 23.8 years before I hit 100TB of writes. I use the computer everyday, and probably more than 12 hours a day.

So 142 years for the 850 Pro... um yeah.

Yeah performance is virtually identical, and while I'd probably never wear an evo out I like the idea of quality - I figure it reduces the chance of something going wrong. It's to replace an older SSD that's showing signs of failing.

Yip often with stuff like that I end up saying to myself, if I just bought the more expensive one and didn't think about it, I'd be better off. Probably spent more time (=money) making sure performance, reliability etc good enough vs the price premium.

850 Pro is a nice drive.

Bit disappointed in the NVMe M.2 drives though. I was hoping for some real world performance differences. It's nice to see benchmarks with 3x improvements, but no point if not noticeable in day to day.
