kendo: probably going out of business soon, in which case they dont have to fulfill this deal(its only for the lifetime of the company)

I've been dealing with what was Genie-Soft for over 10 years, I don't think they are going anywhere for a while.

At worst I just wasted $60 and I can certainly say I've wasted more money on worse things in my life.

I don't normally go for cloud storage, or cloud in general, however..

In the end it's up to each person if you want to spend the $60 for it.

All I am saying is that I have been using them for a little while and don't have any issues.

AWS S3 infrequent access class charges US$12.80 per month for 1TB of storage, with the files stored in three data centers. AWS are meant to be fairly low cost / low margin. Just buying 1TB of hard drive space costs around $40 - 4TB drive is $120 so 1TB $30.

I suspect $40 for 1TB storage for life is unsustainable if everyone actually uses 1TB.

I swore off cloud storage a few years ago for a couple of reasons.

First was the problem with changing my photo directory then having a long re-upload (not so problematic now with UFB upload speeds and larger quotas).

The second was the frequent disk hammering of the upload background process.

Has anything changed for the better?

I was thinking of gifting it to my dad who only knows how to use an ipad, and when the ipad storage is full he buys another ipad!

But this cannot directly backup from ipad and view from cloud does it - ie his ipad will still be full whether he uses this or not ?

So what happens (for android anyway).  Ipad etc you have to open the app.

Tripp is out having a walk and takes a few pictures on his device, he also makes a few calls and sms messages.

When he gets home that night he joins his wifi network and puts his phone on the charge and then gcloud kicks off and uploads phones/sms/phone logs etc.

If i move phones etc when I install g cloud I get asked what i want to load onto the new phone or if i want to set it up as a new device.

Once it's in g cloud you can do whatever you want to the storage on the device.

Sorry it was not in app, I got it in an email after signing up.

I think he went like this.

Saw it on stacksocial.com and wanted to see how good it was, signed up for a free account to play.  A day later I get an email with the offer.

Took the offer as it said it was only 24 hours.

I have found the email and the link still seems to work but don't know if the link is tied to my email address in anyway so don't really want to share it.  It's now cheaper than what I paid however :(

I've had Zoolz for about a year now, paying for 100GB storage.

The basic sub doesnt support server backup, so I Have a script that copies all the files I need to backup to a largely empty disk on a Win7 PC, and then Zoolz copies from there.

Been reliable enough, no issues. Slow upload on ADSL :-(

Hit the 100GB limit a couple of days ago, so this new sub should be worthwhile.
