BlinkyBill: I'm not getting this vlan tagging thing.

With most ISPs you dont get a choice, you have to have the "vlan tagging thing" or you will not get any traffic at all, either DHCP or PPPoE based stuff.

Ok then, thanks for educating me.

Of course I had to buy a Google WiFi kit from JB HiFi on the 24th!

Oh well, I have no need for a Chromecast. The Google WiFi is a great product. Working flawlessly on our Spark VDSL in a tricky house for WiFi reception.

I ordered my Google Wifi from Amazon.com last Xmas and it arrived within 3 weeks. I later added a TP-Link Onhub to ensure better wifi coverage.

Setup a new wi-fi network and I used my original wi-fi name for the guest network, so when I switched off the wifi signal on my router, my existing devices simply re-connected to the guest network.

Google Wifi mesh network provides internet access around my home and offers much more control than my original single device ever could.

I now have 3 units set up and it is working very well. The only thing I don't like is there is no way to mount the units on wall/ceiling.

I don't use these myself but I noticed a couple of different designs on ebay:
