@landcruiserguy - Thanks! Must admit I've been coveting a Fenix 5 (I guess I'm looking for more fitness tracking and less smartwatch) for quite a while and after reading that and various other things I think I'll skip the samsungs. Still looks like a sharp price though...

I picked up the Fenix 5 Plus at Rebel Sport over Labour Weekend for 25% off, to give you an idea of possible discounts. I kinda wish I'd ponied up the extra for the sapphire glass, but Rebel don't stock it and NL "only" had 20% off so it would've worked out about $200 more. Also, the cheap sapphire model is black which I don't think looks as good or then it's even more money for the titanium model.

It's pretty great so far. I've had Forerunners so I like Garmin. The maps are quite small (obviously) and I haven't tried out the nav stuff yet but I will get a chance soon. My battery is a bit erratic, there are some ongoing online discussions. The screen is good but it's a different style to most smart watches, really excels in bright sun.

tl;dr: Get it, it's great!

Go on, be brave and tell us how much you paid for it. I had a sapphire screen on my Huawei watch one and two years later there isnt a single scratch on it. Keen to hear how the map experiance is.

After much dithering i finally got the galaxy watch 46mm from noles at @ 20% off. I am happy with it. The step counting was a bit off but the latest update has mostky fixed it. Screen is amazing and battery life is good if you keep the continious heart rate monitoring off. I keep the screen always on because it think a watch looks dumb with a blank screen. I brought the noles extended warrenty (only $30) so if i get screen burn in i am just going to claim on that.

It's $1149 RRP, you can do the maths. :) I've not seen them that cheap before, but I hadn't looked that hard. I rushed in a bit, but I'd wanted the 5 for a while, so add maps, music and garmin pay and a good price and I couldn't help myself! :)
