I have the 576 I think it is, and have replaced by hand all the blown/failing hdmi board capcitors.

Remarkably it's still going, but it will die again at some stage.

Does this modern equivalent have the Audyssey mic setup? - as frankly that's a massive requirement for me (given I have average inwalls that really do need calibration to flatten out).

It has a mic for room calibration / setup, however, it's not Audyssey room calibration. It's AccuEQ Room Acoustic Calibration.

From memory they removed the original Audyssey, assume because of licensing costs?

How does this AccuEQ compare, and again from memory I recall conversations that it wasn't nearly as good?

I have a TX-NR737 that I use for 2 zone stereo audio and its okayish. Lacks the power that I would expect given its ratings, but as the previous power amp I used was a bryston I dont think any HT receiver will get the bass to the same levels. Analog inputs do not have a great deal of headroom so putting signals into it from my DJ mixer I have to keep the main sliders down at about half or there is distortion.

I think it sounds great with just my kef q700s for music. In saying that, this is the only avr I have owned so I am probably easily impressed.

If your only use is 2 channel though, how does the feature set compare with equivalently priced stereo amps?

I've bought the Onkyo NR676E. And I"m not impressed at all. I'm looking at returning it. Before I do, did anyone have similar issues?

1. Massive latency when I connect my phone or computer via bluetooth. The sound lags so much youtube is unwatchable.

2. Chromecast built-in is not responsive, frequent connection issues (when an external chromecast plugged into HDMI is snappy). It is hard to believe that that little tiny chromecast does a better job than this monster with dual-band wifi dual antennae setup.

3. Wake on net function works only sometimes.

Anyone had the above issues?

A few other issues, which I"m trying to work through, but hey of all of the "smart" stuff I got, I had to spend most time troubleshooting this device. Not to mention, there were some misleading claims the salesman made...

Following up... Apparently, the enormous bluetooth lag is normal for this amp.

Onkyo support "Bluetooth on the receiver was designed to stream music, so there will be a delay if you are watching you tube or a movie. The receiver doesn’t have aptX technology like some Bluetooth headphones have."

My $100 Sony bluetooth speakers seem not to have this issue.

Bluetooth latency isn't unusual - in fact it's expected.

There's simply no clock between video and audio, so the audio may get out of sync, get back into sync... it depends on what direction the wind is blowing.

There are some low latency bluetooth codecs available, but they typically won't be built into an AVR.

Airplay and Chromecast audio should work fine. But as the Onkyo's not working properly with Chromecast, well, I'm guessing you could try an Apple device?

I must admit, I have only ever used the Spotify Connect function for audio and an external Chromecast for video. Connect seems to work fine, any connection issues seem to be with my Spotify app on my phone.

But yeah, as Dunnersfella said, avoid bluetooth like the plague for video or audio.

Also, do you have the latest firmware update (Dec 2018)?

Can I just ask what your setup is please?

I would envisage Onkyo provide the bluetooth functionality primarily for playing music from a mobile device.

Normally there is no need to have this synced to a video image, so not a problem if there is a delay.

Music is interupted when messages or emails etc make a sound on the phone, and you're limited in range as the connection to the phone is vital.

Step up from this is to use a Spotify client on the device, in which case the music plays independently from the mobile device, and delays again are not important.

Mobile device is used for selecting next song, adjusting volume etc, but not as a direct audio source.

This is much preferable than bluetooth.

If you're trying to display video and have audio played externally by bluetooth then this sounds like a recipe for disaster.

If wireless speakers are required etc, then you may be better served with a dedicated wireless speaker system.

I'm just curious what your setup requirements are, as on paper it reads as a bit outside the norm.

The playing device will usually account for the latency in the codecs, but if there is additional latency in the reciever that may not get compensated for. I know when I am playing youtube over bluetooth to my aac capable LG speakers with the resultant huge lag that has, whenever I play youtube the video freezes for a while at the start and then resumes in sync with the audio. When playing to my SBC speaker with less lag, the pause is much smaller. Not tried it to my aptx low latency headphones to see what it does, but audio and video are always mostly in sync with each other on my bluetooth devices from the phone.

Your headphones are designed to work with video playback on mobile devices. Your home theatre Amp isn't. The use case for watching YouTube on your phone while playing audio to a home theatre amp is a very unusual one.

If you were streaming just streaming music there's be no issues but this is one of those obscure edge cases that only affects a very small proportion of the population.
