Probably a slight variation in the barrel sizes - I could see the tech having their power supply fitting and then not checking the rest. Re the Zoom thing, it looks like you also have to enable preview firmware updates, which I have now done.

I mean - maybe. It's not even close though the plastic barrell really doesn't fit. I'm inclined to thing ' voltage and current it ok, lets go', and the package what ever has been shipped.

Some fit from supplier a, some don't from supplier b, and some are marginal from supplier c.

Just received:

Thank you for your recent order of the Google Nest Hub Max Charcoal Refurb

Due to unforeseen circumstances we have experienced an unexpected delay with the correct chargers arriving to us from our supplier. We have been advised however that they will start being dispatched out within the next few days however these are likely to be delivered next week due to the couriers not operating over the public holidays.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused you and really appreciate your understanding while we work through having your order corrected.

If you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to reply to this email or use our Live Chat service between the hours of 8am - 9pm Monday - Friday and 8am – 6pm Saturday - Sunday.

Kind regards,

I think I'll just wait patiently rather than trying to bodge something or buy a replacement.

Well - I got grumpy earlier today and the offered a $50 refund (I had 2 units) so I'm going to trim the existing power adaptors, and then go and buy a new one from surplustronics

Further update:

Thank you for your recent order of the Google Nest Hub Max Charcoal Refurb

Due to unforeseen circumstances we have experienced another unexpected delay with the correct chargers. The stock had arrived however was deemed non-compliant under New Zealand standards.

We have another shipment on the way and are expecting dispatch of the chargers to take place in about a week and a half. We will continue to keep you updated should any further updates be required.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused you and really appreciate your understanding while we work through having your order corrected.

Is anyone else able to play YouTube videos at faster than 1x? Both units I've tried chug along and are unusable. My Lenovo unit manages it alright. Are the CPU's just under powered (Lenvo smart displays are on a different hardware and software platform)? Is it a Wifi band issue perhaps? Something to do with being "refurbished" / faulty?

Mine restarted itself yesterday after I put it on 10 volume. Not sure if that's because of a bad power connection or because it's "refurbished".

Just checked this out on our Hubs, neither of which is refurb unit (both new from Noel Leeming's): the Hub Max can play YT videos ok at 1.25x, but any faster than that it becomes unintelligible bollox; the standard Hub can't even manage that. Weird how they've provided the feature when it's not even usable.

Further update:

Due to unforeseen circumstances we have experienced an unfortunate delay with the shipment of the replacement chargers and we don’t want to keep you waiting any longer. We have processed a partial refund of $40.00 per Google Nest Hub Max so you have the option to purchase an adapter locally.

---

It would have been nice if they at least said what the specs are.

Someone on Reddit posted: "I made some measurements on my Nest Hub Max power supply. The unloaded voltage is 23 volts DC, should end up around 20 volts under load. The center pin is the plus (+) terminal. The plug measures 4.5 mm outside. My voltmeter probe pin measured 2mm but was loose fitting. Check some of the replacement power supplies meant for small laptop computers. A 20 volt adapter with multiple plugs should work, but watch the outside diameter of the plug body as it goes inside of the NHM back."

I replied back and said they should probably advise their customers what adaptors to get.

Umm, if they cant get an adapter to supply then what is the use of a refund and asking the customer to go and get one. If there were any available then surely they can find and supply them?

What a total crap experiance for people buying them from 1day, but that is really a given with them and "refurbished" gear so 🤷

Is the adaptor the same as the new Google Nest Audio?

This is the model number for the hub max overseas adaptor: W18-030N1A

Surely if the customer get the wrong power adaptor, this will have the potential to short/break the unit.

Not very good customer service here.

Would have to agree that is pretty irresponsible, yeah let's just bung this power supply in it fits the hole. Oh dear whats this magic smoke emitting from my device.

I just sliced the edges of the plug in the end and stuffed it in. Fits and works fine.

Maybe someone could start a thread on life lessons from reading GZ forums over the years.

I'll add the following for starters:

1. Never buy from 1-day.

2. Never pre-order a new release phone from Noel Leeming and expect it to arrive on time.
