This is what I see and hear after Step 1)
2 quick blue lights
a sound
then
3 quick red lights
then
3 slower blue lights
a sound

2 Blue + 3 red is what you're after. Some devices will indicate if it is in aptX mode:

alisam:
So am I correct in assuming from your post that I am in aptX mode?
I see (probably/perhaps since I am no expert) that you are running OSX.
My laptop runs Windows 10 and for the record I haven't been able to tell whether the headphones are in aptX mode or not, even though it appears as a Device and I have looked through the Properties.
dunnersdude: Waiting on mine to turn up. If I use them on my Mac with aptX and then want to use them with my iPhone which doesn't support that, does that mean I have to change the mode every time I switch between them?
