Both of them I find to have really weird mics. Sometimes I can get google to answer from 7m away no problems, other times right infront of it have to say ok google about 4 times to get it to answer.
And the echo will sometimes ignore me even when I am right beside it and its not playing, have to press its button to talk to it then it is fine. Quite a long way to go from the star trek type recognition.
And I dont have a disk lamp, stupid things keep thinking that is what I say so I will have to rename the desk lamp sometime.
Looks ok priced, runs out at 11am though

edit: oops I didn't see their shipping price, assumed it would be cheaper

Dick Smith seems to have it for the same price (not sure what the delivery cost is though).
edit: Didn't notice that the expansys is ex. gst, so DS is cheaper as it's inc. gst

DS are a direct import so there is no GST unless customs decide to charge you GST in which case their terms say you need to pay it and its not DS's problem.
So for those people who bought this and using it, is it a handy tool or just a gimmick. Whats the sound like, can it easily stream music from your phone and play no problems. Any drawbacks?
Missed out on this deal but looking at getting one of these to impress wifey with voice controlled fun.

I'm liking it, and I now have google assistant on my android auto in the car so it carries the experience. I just want to know how to add custom news sources, as the current ones have either an Australian or US flavour.
iheart radio works well, settings alarms, and saving items to my shopping list (the home is in the kitchen / lounge) - I would like google to integrate a bit more and realise I'm at the supermarket and suggest I take a look at my list.
Speaker works ok for music, but I've got better options, I use it as a radio more.
