I drove past the Penrose branch on my way home from work just after 3pm and the line was all the way down the side of the building.

I can't imagine prices good enough to wait in line like that honestly.

fizzychicken:

im interested in how much they discount the 1080ti, I fancy upgrading from my 2 970s as im tired of finding thing sthat dont support SLI.

the card I wanted ended up being $1,357 in the black friday sale, same card is on sale at computer lounger for $1,249.95 so I price matched that at playtech as it is a lot closer. I'm so glad I didn't have to deal with how busy PB would be.

so my SLI set up of 2x ASUS STRIX GTX 970s are going on sale/TM.

The queue in Wellington down the street and round the corner (about 150m). And that was when the doors had been open for 45 minutes. Just as well I was only going to be nosey, so I just kept on walking.

Got to the Penrose branch about 4.20 got in the door about 4.50.  They had already sold out of the P10s I was after.

Bit of a wasted trip.  Guess I will wait till cyber Monday

Yeah the Welly crowd is nuts. Looks like at least an hour wait to get in.

I must be missing something but the pricing is probably comparable as what you could get from Amazon, definitely not worth the queue.

I find the issue with these things are the limit of how many people they can have in the store. The people in first will always clear out the good deals and can just stay in the store for as long as they want which keeps others waiting. Now if it was only a limit of 1 of the really good deals then more people can get things (by 1 I mean only 1 product not 1 p10, 1 Xbox, 1 tv etc)

Got to the Penrose branch at 8:47pm.  Got a park right out front.  When I was in there there was only 1 xbox left.  3 of the no name brand 55" tv's.  Still lots of battery packs and SD cards etc.  Didn't really look for anything else but still quite a bit of stock around.

I just went in to see if there were any chromecast's left and there were about 30 still there (limit of 1 per customer)

Went to Tauranga around 7pm . Busier than normal but not too bad, except no xboxes, the salesman said they were gone in 30 seconds so no luck. Nothing else was of interest really.... prices still better from amazon on many sale items.

Guessing that is a health and safety thing. But looks like these really good deals this time were mainly instore, so you would think they would do it more online. But maybe their website can;t cope with a huge demand of hits and orders at the same time for those really good deals?
