not sure about the rest but you can just reverse the inputs to swap sides dude
Wanted to double check, thought that would be the case.
Just ordered some direct from the warehouse thanks :) $5 new user discount on the app, free shipping codes and such didn't work, $99 is pretty good for what should be a decent speaker. Low risk as returns are easy at warehouse.
Any idea of the standby power of these things when left on?
I'm not sure if this makes any difference to anyone who wants to purchase, but having gone instore I noticed that some have different years in the fine print, 2014, 2017 and 2019.
I bought one with 2019 thinking if there are any revisions then hopefully the latest one would be best. I imagine it's more likely that there is no difference but just posting FYI
Mine arrived, signature required left at the door, thanks CourierPost. The speakers are about twice the size of my AudioEngine A2s, but they look fine on my desk. They have 2019 on the box.
Speakers take time to burn in so not going to judge them too early, but initial impression is pretty good and quite impressive for the price. I tend to listen at fairly low to moderate volume, so I get different impressions from others sometimes. They have significantly more bass than the A2, the detail in the treble isn't quite as good even just moving the treble knob helped quite a bit so with a good EQ I think they'll be pretty good :)

I ordered at the same time with the codes provided on page 1 of this thread.
The $10 discount on $100 spend required a spend of an additional $1 to reach the total of $100.
Speakers are a good size for my study. They're only 42W RMS so I won't be damaging my eardrums with them.
I got the $5 app sign up discount but missed the $10 discount. The speakers are plenty loud enough to hurt ears specially in a small room or with extended listening. I have tinnitus from younger days in clubs, but still hear perfectly.
Edifier Black R1280DB speakers are available for $119 from Kogan NZ if anyone is interested. Guess you could consider them the version up from R1280T. They come with bluetooth/optical/coaxial/RCA connections.
Free shipping with code: FREESHIP (until 12/03 11:59pm).
Not the most trustworthy of sites, but a great price.
My Kasa power meter says power usage is 4W when turned on doing nothing, 4.1W when turned on and playing music at a low volume. When the volume goes up to about as loud as I can tolerate it reaches 4.2W.
That's 0.096 per day or 2.88kwh per month. That's about 2c per day or 60c per month. I'll probably still turn them off just to prevent them running all the time which might reduce lifespan.
Shame the power button is in such an inconvenient spot. I might get one of these manual remote power switches, I have one for a TV that I don't use often and it works well. Apps / Wifi are great for some things, but sometimes you just want a plain old switch. The speakers have no auto power off.
Collected speakers today from Noel Leeming. Ordered through TheMarket - $79 with coupon.
Set up in study with Amazon Dot as input. Sounding good. Same as the other ones I own except the veneer is stained darker. Only difference I could detect is that these ones (date stamped 2019) came with white packing foam around the speakers, unlike the compressed cardboard around the older (2014) ones. Boo.

xpd:
The wood look ones look nice without the cover. Black, not so much. :)
True.
The black ones are less visible and blend into my other black and dark grey printers and computer kit. A colleague brought some white ones last year on special as he is into a white minimalist look. There is also a YouTube video where a reviewer put got rid of the wooden cabinets altogether and put the speakers, ports and the electronics into a space under his TV to make a large DIY stereo soundbar...
They're certainly pretty damn good for $99. I'd probably not be quite as enthusiastic if I'd paid $149.
Turned up loud and playing something with a heavy bassline they sound remarkable for the price. At normal listening volume with a range of music, it's anything from average to very good, depending on the song.
They're a nice compact size, perfect for a desktop.
Overall very happy. Definitely an upgrade from the old passive speakers I was previously using (pillaged from a Sony mini system) despite being about one third smaller.
Edit: wow, I seriously like these.
