Loismustdye: Trademe is drowning in s10s. Some of the sellers are rather optimistic wanting 12, 1300 or more.
There is obviously a few rather upset people about missing out, some of the comments being left on a lot of the auctions made for a humorous evening read.

To be fair to some of those selling, some will be those who just wanted a single phone, and are selling the second to actually benefit from the deal and halve the price of it.  That is why I think NL should have just done it as a half price deal instead, so more people who actually wanted the pone to use and keep, like me and others one here who missed out,  benefited from the deal. Sure, there will always be those who will try to make money on selling the discounted phone, but that has always been the case, and not much different  to people who buy concert tickets to then onsell etc.

Looks like there are 130 of them on trademe at the moment. But some will stores who were previously selling them.

I think the issue there is with those wanting $1200 or $1300 for the phone on TM aren't simply trying to regain half the value (so to end up with a half-price phone), which would be totally fair - but rather wanting to get a $1500 RRP phone for $200 or $300. Now, that's certainly cheeky and I hope (and assume) they won't sell at that price.

Well, I thought incorrectly, that the buyers would be looking to recover half the cost of the deal, but it seems most are just out to make as much as they can. Shame really.

Add my name to the list of people who tried and failed. Was hoping to pick up a pair of s10s for myself and SO, but no dice.

Same deal as others: refreshed at 9am, got it in the cart, tried to progress, but got Cloudflare error page, then NL error page. By the time I got back to the cart and tried to progress, sold out! I realise that that is just the nature of the game when this sort of sale comes along, but still kind of poopy on NL's part considering how many people had that same issue.

Funny how it sold out so fast, when there are so many unwanted S10 gifts on TM now.

To be fair, even without the people who were buying to sell for profit etc, there were definately going to sold out even with 1000 units for sale, with legitimate buyers within a few minutes.

It was an exceptional deal.

While that is an admirable sentiment, unfortunately that ain't gonna happen IRL.

People really are shameless when it comes to making a quick buck.

Apparently there were 800 according to the email advert. But not sure if that included the initial phone, which would mean 400 free ones? But not sure how many were available on their website, vs in the store. It seemed there was a far better chance of getting one if you went to a store when it opened.  It was one of those promotions which was going to leave many people unhappy due to not enough stock being allocated to the deal, to fulfill the demand. Basically most people like me who tried buying exactly when the deal started online, didn't have a chance. It seems they do still have stock though of the phones, because now they have go another deal that started on sunday, which includes a free google home and speak worth $320 if you buy an s10, but that obviously isn't as good and it seems most retailers are offering some form of bonus products with it.

Heh, I usually measure people by how I would act, which rarely seems to be productive. I think you are right.

Had I of bought one, I would have been happy to split the cost evenly with another person.

There may hav ebeen some people who put them on TM, for around $800-$850 buy now price, which would then cover TMs fees. But it is impossible to know, as they would sell quickly. Some people have also got a 800-900 start price, so I guess they are meeting the market. But guessing they will still sell for well over 1k?

I did a search of expired S10 listings this morning, and it appears the only ones that have sold recently were before this "deal" happened. I think every individual selling their NL deal S10 or S10+ is aiming to make a good profit. Human nature I guess....

I would have been much happier also if NL just sold them all at half price, to give everyone a better chance of getting one. Samsung must surely dislike all these new units sitting on Trademe for weeks and weeks. The same thing happened recently with Galaxy watches that flooded Trademe for months, cheapening the product immensely. Along with many, I held back and got one for $250 eventually.

The people who are selling "multiple colours" for near RRP showing a receipt with the buy one, get one free offer really annoy me. They clearly didn't need it, just took the opportunity to make a few dollars.

That is a good point. Guessing it takes away sales from retailers, if there are going to be potentially hundreds of discounted ones on trademe. Will be interesting to see how low they do go. Guessing there will be a lot of facebook marketplace as well, as it seems many people prefer to use that these days. So knowing the exact number being resold may not be easy. Doing a quick search on marketplace does show quite a number recently listed inside the last 3 days, and they are priced around $1150-1250

Noel Leeming refunded my money and never contacted me despite a separate email on top of the phone conversation. Disappointing - I guess they just don't care.

I noticed that one I was watching on TM , where bidding was at about $850, sold for $1250 as a buy now.
