Same, I have it on Steam for cheap already and didn't really hit the spot like the old x-wing games from the 90s.

I've played it on TV and I've played it in VR. It's definitely better in VR. You feel like you're sitting in the cockpit of an X-Wing or TIE. It's amazing. But yeah, nowhere near as engaging on a TV. Kind of like that game Chorus (CHORVS), I think that'd be incredible in VR but I can't get into it on TV.
