The "priming" it's only feasible if the water intake is coming through the hot water. Check your setup.

Someone mentioned to me that it should actually be on the cold water, as the machine heating is more efficient and economical than the gas heating we have.

So YMMV.

Ours is connected to hot.  The pipe feels hot when running.  Interestingly we bough a new front load washing machine recently for the apartment and it only has a cold water connection.  It does all its own water heating.

Same as the Bosch DW that came with our new house its only connected to cold but seems to cost a lot of run .9kwh to 1.2khw per wash. Seems to be able to reach a hotter temperature compared to our old one that was on gas hot.

Ordered 6 packets of these tablets and my kitchen cupboards  smells so much I think these need to be sealed in Tupperware

Other bagged tablets I’ve seen have been clear that you should not remove the bag and you should put it in the basket not the dispenser. The idea is the bag takes a while to dissolve to delay the release until after the rinse cycle. Naturally it is completely unknown how long the bag will take to dissolve nor how long the pre rinse lasts.
I think powder in the dispenser always best.

Would depend on the wash cycle ie quick was 29mins vs auto at 3hrs

Regarding dish draws (F&P), what’s everyone’s thoughts about using side cutters to flick off the two wee stalks in the dispenser (presumably used to show you level for half and full when adding powder.

  • this to allow placing in the tablets and pods?

Bad idea. Google says there f&p have included a removable tablet tray for that purpose.

I thought about this too and then read the manual which said to just put them in the basket or on the bottom.  Since I've gone back to Finish tablets, no problems.

@Stu1

Worked all ok coming out of the dispenser. I loaded the tab and closed the sliding door. It opened up when needed to and the tab activated as such.

They work as a dishwasher tab. Easy.

I do prefer the powder tho, as that little sprinkle ontop of the dispenser used at the first pre-wash cycle, just starts the cleaning processes going.
Maybe it depends on the model of dissssshy.

I wondered how this post got to 5 pages. FWIW I normally use finish powerball tablets in my 2010ish F&P dishdraw. But a few months back someone on cheapies posted a deal for 120 Active rapid tablets for $27 from Mitre10.

I always just drop tablets into the knife and fork basket, never had a plate or cultlery come out unclean and I never unwrap the tabs either.

got mine last week. They seem to work well, but do make my cupboard smelly where they are stored. I don't think I would buy again as they don't really give me anything over the usual Active / Finish bottles of powder I usually use.
