Just watching the Aukland Grammar School vs Kings College first xv rugby.

Live on TV1

Reminds me of my youth of watching NPC rugby.

Amazing game, better than most super rugby games. Went down to the wire.

Nothing like this when I went to school.

They had 15000 supporters at the game.

No video ref

Also streamed on spark sport, I wonder how that went as it was a local feed.

School should be about learning, not trying to catch the eye of rugby scouts.

Few are selected, most waste their school opportunities.

Look at the UK football ans USA scene.

There are more black doctors and dentists by orders of magnitude than NBA but school kids waste their efforts trying for the essentially unobtainable.

OP, not bad by the looks of it. Didn't know it was on, I would be interested in the commentary quality, and his that compared to Sky, why have that nailed.

I'm watching the ondemand on Spark Sport - forgot to set my TVHeadend box to record the match on TVNZ 1. D'OH!

So far from what I'm seeing, they did a damn good job. A few things they need to polish in the graphics up but that'll come with time and practice. They were little things. Camera work on the actual game was bloody good. Very much equal to what I remember SKY doing with First XV content, if not better in some ways. Stevenson's commentary was on point.

From my honest viewpoint, if they keep this up RWC is in good hands.

I agree the coverage and commentary were excellent.

The game iitself was excellent, I have not seen good rugby like that in years and these were schoolkids. I thought the game itself was better than top level rugby. What I really liked was there was no video referee and not too many play replays, you actually got to see the game.

If UFB is installed by the RWC I will look at the Spark sport pass.

It was good, but in my view quite a stretch to say better than the quality you'd find in any top Kiwi SR or Test Side. There were some great plays and short bursts of brilliance. Certainly a very high standard for school rugby.

A couple of things re the SS app. One is that they showed a bit at the very very start of the stream, then a large period with a holding page, with no feedback around when the stream would start, which then meant I was trying to move +10s at a time and nothing was "happening". I got a couple of browser type lockups as a result of trying to move around the stream before giving up and Casting the stream to my shield from my phone. The Cast wasn't very stable initially, probably took around a minute or so to sort itself.

It's about the same as the experience I had when they first released it, and I thought these issues were sorted already.

Once we got going everything was OK.
