Batman: I'd love to have those skis. Plus you can choose your bindings. The only thing holding your body to the skis when it's ploughing down the mountain.

These are the bindings I have

https://www.snowandsurf.co.nz/collections/ski-bindings/products/marker-griffon-ski-binding-black

So $1,349 normally $1,399 just for the skis.  Go for it Batman!

OP: They are quite big skis, so if you aren't a confident intermediate they might be a bit much.  I really would suggest hiring skis this year (get the Executive hire skis)

I see ski trading post allows you to hire demo skis, the cost of which is refunded if you buy them.

Taubin:

I tried skiing once, I barely made it up the lift, wasn't able to get off, then nearly broke every bone in my body trying to make it safely down the hill. I quickly swore off skiing as something I'm not really into.

Ok

Buying boots online is never a great idea,

All brands have difference "fits" and "volumes"- you need to try ski boots on before you lay out $$$ other with you open yourself up for seasons of pain,

This.

And I cannot emphasise how important the snuggest fitting ski boots is. Much more than the skis. Well at least for me anyway. ANd the boots technology have progressed to the point where good boots have custom fitting shells. Size the shell right, and the boot can be custom wrapped after the fact. (Won't shrink, but can expand, to the point where there is no points of pain/discomfort whatsoever.)

The OP is a beginner, getting a cheap package online is ok to start, yes a bit of pain whilst boarding ( or sling) is annoying but they can always purchase fitted boots after the first or second season
