MikeB4:

On a different note how do folks feel about the notion of Formula 1 being replaced with an expanded Formula E? I for one would be OK with this. It just seems wrong having ICE races when we are trying to save the planet. I know this wont save the planet but it helps drive the message home.

I wanted to get into Formula E, as yes its EV the way of the future and it also includes many well known drivers. But time and time again it was too boring to me. They race on Indy type street tracks, narrow as. Its not exciting to watch. Ive given it a go a few times. If the tracks were wider, the racers can race, but its just a procession

I agree about the tracks currently being used but what if the races were being raced on the Formula tracks with the same hype, promotion and investment?

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Yes. I would go with that for sure. I wouldn't even be concerned re extra hype and investment, if the racing is "racing" that's enough for any fan

Yep, dont bother filling in the gap with any other sport, everything has pretty much stopped. Not in Australia though for the moment.

slightly off topic but the cricket last night was so boring. Not having a crowd react to the game made it very odd, felt like a local cricket game. The best i think we can hope for is games or races being held in crowd-less stadiums it will be a very bizarre few months. The far wider impact of this will be felt for years to come. Its really going to suck.

I watched half of that, I didn't mind it. I did mind Jamieson not playing, dumbest thing ever

I’d expect the same for all sports, even NZs favourite rugby.

Can’t see super 12 (or whatever number it’s at now) continuing for long.

Both in terms of flying to international matches, and having people attend those matches in bulk numbers.

Intermediate option is playing without fans in stadium but may move into the games themselves like basketball in America has etc.

Going to be very hard to justify a paid sports subscription service in the short term...

If you need a racing fix, I found this alarmingly addictive viewing.

Think that e sports sim racing will take off.

Several F1 drivers already participate in those events from time to time.

Tomorrow I'll go online (or on the phone if I have to) and suspend my Spark Sport subscription. I guess March is a loss ($20 wasted! 😒) but if there's no F1 in April or May then I can save $40 there.
Sigh

I did that earlier, with potentially no EPL or F1 for some time, I have no need for Spark Sport... Suspended just in time as my renewal was tomorrow!
