Apple TV 4 and Rugbypass.com : I understand there's a RugbyPass ATV4 app that should theoretically allow me to stream rugby direct onto my TV - rather than watching it on the computer screen. Can anyone confirm that this will work? Just a little hesitant as I know I had to change the DNS settings in the computer to get it to use the DNS4me servers, and not sure that I can replicate the same setup in the ATV4.

By the way, apparently by changing the DNS settings in my computer, I routing ALL of my connections through the DNS4me servers which isn't ideal. It would seem the best thing is to allow the computer to run with NZ DNS settings (I assume a server here, provided by my ISP (Spark)), and setup the ATV4 to use the DNS4me server. Any comments on that?

Matthew

PS - I tried streaming the rugby to the TV via an old AppleTV but it was too laggy. Apparently that could be partially due to the crappy Spark router/modem I have  - so am about to replace that with a Netgear Nighthawk.

Yip you can easily set up the apple tv to be able to watch rugby pass. there is a setup guide for dns4me on their website.

I've had mine set up for a couple of weeks, works like a treat.

Hmmm - can't get it to work. Managed to download the RP app, and followed the DNS4me instructions on configuring an ATV. Instructions aren't quite accurate - perhaps menu setup is different on the new ATV4? Anyway, this is what I did - all steps seemed to work - including the all important DNS entry - I confirmed this by checking the setting under Settings>Network. I also changed the iTunes store to USA, although in the ATV4 this happens in Settings>Accounts>iTunes & App Store>Preferences - I have that set to United States. I then put the ATV4 to sleep, removed the cable for 20s then powered it up.

When I start the RP app, it appears with 4 words across the top of the screen : Schedule, Highlights, Buy, Settings - and shows the spinning 'loading' wheel but then after about 15s displays this message : Check back later. Network Connection Not Available, please check back later"

I know the ATV4 is connected to the network (it's connected via Ethernet) as other aspects of it are functioning.

Matthew

Is rugbypass geo blocked for anyone else? Using DNS4ME tried India and Singapore servers. It was working fine mid week.

Working fine for me with Getflix.

You don't get to choose which server with Getflix but it looks like it could be using Hong Kong.

You sure they didn't mean your 30 day trial?

Or are they going to stop offering the 30 day trial completely?

Where are the instructions on dns4me for configuring rugbypass?

I figured out why mine isn't working -- hadn't disabled ipv6.   I guess it was using ipv6 in some way instead of ipv4.
