Wow, Eddie Jones has made some wildly surprising selections for his WC Squad.

Only 1 specialist 10.

Skelton as captain? He hasn't really shown any particular leadership qualities I've seen, nor any communication skills that would help him with referees during matches.

The loss of Hooper to injury is incalculable.

It's a pretty light-on-experience team overall. It looks like he has had a conversation with ARU and said 'we have next to no chance of this one, let's build for 2027 when we host, and that means giving barely experienced players, a taste of the RWC.

Ruby Tui is all class. She plays for Counties Manakau, and was going against her opposite a newbie. The newbie steps Ruby and scores, not once, but twice. Ruby makes a point of congratulating her after each try. Fantastic sportsmanship. She is in my opinion our womens rugby equivalent of Ritchie McCaw.

What an absolute knob Farrell is. No chance anyone can claim it's not wilful now. Another red card for a dangerous tackle. I hope he gets every minute of 6 weeks of ban.

He won't. It's world cup time and he's the England captain.

Three weeks at most to get him playing the last two games of round robin.

Pretty sure his record will go against him, though he is a protected species, so you might be right.

I railed against Borthwick for making him captain the same week he got done for a high tackle last time. Obviously, such a good decision.

Whatever happened to Tom Robinson. He was supposed to be the next big thing, and never really went anywhere. Looked the goods for a little while.

Looks like he's off to Japan end of this year.

Romain Ntamack gone for the season incl RWC2023 for France! That is a massive blow for them. The only worse player they could lose would be DuPont. They have a reasonable replacement but that partnership lacks a fair amount of the magic that Dupont Ntamack have. When they don't play, France looks quite average indeed. They have also lost one of their top props as well.

I only hope we can keep our squad clear of injuries so we head to France with our best chance.

I agree - and the upcoming All Blacks/Springboks game is one which I'm sure both sides are viewing with apprehension regarding World Cup injuries. Maybe we should agree to make it a game of touch-rugby instead so we can work on combinations but minimise breaks and ruptures :)

As expected, Owen Farrell gets away with a shot to the head. Red card rescinded due to "mitigation". Absolute rubbish decision and makes a mockery of the on field decision makers and TMO. Is it a corrupt World rugby? Would a player from a smaller smaller nation have gotten away with that? I suspect no.

It's just corruption, I guess the sad thing is no one can say they're surprised by it.

Fully expected. Second tier nation player with the same history would have received 6 matches.

I am actually surprised that Basham hasn't been cited for dangerously tackling Farrells shoulder with his head, and suspended for the remainder of the year.

World Rugby has a right of appeal, I suspect with the backlash online, they will seriously consider this.
