Batman: I think they need an experienced driver who can lead the team. Ferrari are so good at clutching defeat from the jaws of victory. Perhaps they'll sign the worst driver to improve their defeatbility.
And they didn't, they chose a solid support driver, Barrichello etc 2.0
Jaxson:
Ricciardo to McLaren or long shot Mercedes?
Renault haven't done anything with him.
Sainz to Ferrari by the looks of it.
All Teams want pace and support, with less drama. Two top drivers doesn't always help, especially as they're usually in the same race spec and fighting with each other. Leclerc is the future of Ferrari, so needs a best fit with him option.
Ricciardo is a PR nightmare if his shoe'y antics don't necessarily fit with formal teams like Mercedes, McLaren and Ferarri. Nice fit for Red Bull for example.
You win. The shoes thing will cease, belonged to another time will be his PR spin. IM happy he's with McLaren from a Down Under POV but Ferrari would make better use of him. Multi year means he locked in. fun fun fun
Apparently Vettel is heading for retirement. He doesn't want a midfield or back of grid team according to MacLaren.

Rumours Toto Wolff will announce his retirement as Mercedes team boss

could that mean Hamilton's future is not at Merc

Lots of future options of course, and new regs coming now a year later.
Aston Martin coming into the fold.
Force india now pink racing point and their mercedes clone etc.
Spending cap seems very hard to implement where companies are also car manufacturers. Testing for each could overlap etc.
Love the suggestions to promote old school slip streaming etc and promote passing.

Mercedes parent company refutes ‘unfounded’ speculation over its Formula 1 future
According to Motorsport Week, on Friday (29th May) a Daimler AG spokesperson issued a statement including “It is our clear intention to continue competing in Formula 1 as a Mercedes-Benz works team in the years to come, and to do so with our managing partner Toto Wolff.”
Good news.
now they should remove all the aero parts and race reverse grid
Ugh can't we have two races at Spa instead of Silverstone?
I know it's nowhere near as bad as it used be as a track but two back to back Lewis wins in the UK is just going to make the F1 media insufferable.
I don't care where they race as long as they can race wheel to wheel. Ok I might have to lower my expectations a bit - as long as first guy past the 1st corner isn't the winner? Ok maybe lower - nobody wins 5 races in a row.
My fear is getting ready for a night of racing, and the main protagonists are out at Turn 1
reverse grid opinion in 2019
That was pretty funny.
I remember reading a while back that you need to retain possibilities for error, otherwise it becomes like watching automated robot cars race.
Things like driver skill in braking, gear shifting, refuelling and tyre changes/selections etc were all very important.
(Wish I could find that article now, along with why that calling 'mark' when things get tough in Rugby kills the flow like a get out of jail free card...)
The likes of DRS and reverse grid scenarios are all just skirting around the real issues, of massive budget scale differences, lack of slipstreaming capability now to prevent close racing etc.
A focus on fuel savings during racing is an absolute killer for me, in terms of hard races for first 5 laps, settle into a fuel saving groove, race last 10 laps when it's all a bit too late.
I'd love to see a focus on reducing transport costs/fuel efficiency and green approaches to that whole background infrastructure side, and keep racing as that, with machines that sound unearthly.
Purests could oppose all these aspects, writing things off as tradition, strategy components etc, but we're on the longest winning streak of any team ever from memory, and it's freaking boring watching 3 tiers of racing in the one event.
