I didn't see the game. I'm away without TV coverage. Therefore I'm unable to comment on the refereeing of that match.

I've watched games where I've seen supporters of either team upset at a decision or non decision yet I couldn't really see there was a major issue.

I suspect I'd be able to find a Hurricanes supporter who had an opposing point of view to your's. In other words felt the refereeing favoured the Crusaders.

Anyway my comment was a general observation not specific to that game. With this game you may well have a point, with out having watched it I cannot say.

The pass in question was a mile forward, and how the try stood after review by the TMO was astounding.

I'm just blown away you'd comment without seeing the match.

NZ teams discipline in the last few years has been attrocious at pretty much all levels.

It's the sort of thing that loses you RWC's.

I am pretty disappointed at the refereeing from the Canes Crusaders game. 3 ignored forward passes and LF having his jersey pulled preventing his defence of another Hurricanes try was super frustrating.

The Crusaders lose - the refereeing must be to blame.  Business as usual then.

What an absolute rubbish game it was though, for the first half at least.  So many non-contestable kicks, back and forth.  Aerial ping pong nonsense.  No wonder people are changing to supporting League.

Yeah, while you're looking at replays of that pass, have a look at a few replays of the grounding (or lack thereof) of Dom Gardner's try at the other end.  The point being, refs, like players, make mistakes on tight calls.

People complained for ages that there was too much TMO involvement and way too long taken on try/no-try decisions.  Well they've fixed that, but it comes at the price of one or two mistakes.  That's OK, as long as the ref isn't clearly biased one way or the other - and there's no evidence of that in any Super game so far.

I was a neutral for that game, and saw no inherent bias one way or the other.  To filter out the ref mistakes favouring one side and moan about those favouring the other side, I guess that takes a really good eye patch.

Except I didn't. I acknowledged the Crusaders try, but when a game is tight and the referee (and TMO) make a number of fundamental errors that cost one team the win, just like when good players make mistakes, it's fine to call them out. No-one (except you), claimed bias.

Weatons Law applies here.

It was an involving contest between the Hurricanes and Crusaders. Like many, I was frustrated by the poor refereeing decisions throughout the game that swung both ways. There was a fair bit of off the ball niggle and holding from both teams, especially around the rucks that wasn't picked up and you can't say that favoured either team. Regardless, I'm happy the Hurricanes won that and I'm looking forward to the return match down Chch.

FWIW, that was sent to me last weekend from one of my mates in ChCh.  They loved it and had a great laugh over it.

Yeah, the return match will be (should be) a cracker.  But first, the Blues v Saders in ChCh this weekend should be a doozy as well.  Then the Chiefies are down there a couple of weeks later.  Loads of tasty NZ derbies over the last 5 rounds of the round robin.

It's business time in Super Rugby now...

Steve Lancaster is the new CEO of NZ Rugby and Don Tricker the head of High Performance Rugby NZ.

Not sure how I feel about Lancaster, but Tricker seems a reasonable choice.

I guess it's wait and see to determine how they go. I am not sure how I feel about how long it took to fill those roles. Hard to know if they were the best of a less than ideal lot, or worth waiting for.

David Kirk as Chair concerns me

I was happy with many aspects of the way we played. For almost all of the match we had full control.

The red card was an unfortunate accident fully worthy of a red. It's clear he was going to jump and then something happened with his legs. Absolutely no intent, but red all day long.

We are the most carded team this year, not a badge I'm happy about, though interestingly the Blues are the most penalised, and last night discipline was a problem for them again.

How they didn't manage to capitilise of a 13 v 15 advantage was pretty telling. In that situation most teams would have been moving teams back and forward across the width of the field until a gap opened, but they decided to try their luck with our tight five, which wasn't really going to help.

LF is this years Savea. If you aren't impressed by now (even though he wears the Red and Black jersey) honestly, you are just being silly. That was one of the most impressive performances I've seen by a player since Savea last year, and before that, it's been a while.

Great to see Bower getting his first meat pie, it was obviously something his team had decided to try and do for him, and LF's pass to him was filthy.

I am not sure we have what we need this year in terms of consistency to go all the way back to back, but I wouldn't write them off.  Injuries have again really disrupted our momentum.  I think Reihana is getting better and better. I wonder how much more he has left to give, and whether he could be considered for the AB's wider training group. We are horribly short of quality tens for the first time in 20 years.

Is this the use of the Royal “We”, otherwise what position were you playing?😂

I assume you are talking about the Crusaders/Blues match at Te Kaha 8 May 2026.

It was a game where the Blues essentially imploded in the final quarter and the Crusaders took full advantage as champion teams do. To not capitalise on a two man advantage is unforgivable.

i know it’s only two games, but is this the start of a fortress?

Also a good ground out win for the Chiefs over the Reds. The best part of the game. The constant whinging about the ref by the Aussie commentators.

While I’m on my hobby horse, please use player’s names rather than initials. This isn’t a Crusaders Fans Reddit thread.
