Earbanean:

I agree Havili has been awesome and also agree Tupaea is first and foremost a 12.  However, to say he has been 'pretty poor' as a 13 is blatantly wrong.  In the Bledisloe last year where he played 13, he scored 2 tries and was man of the match!  Razor and Hansen obviously saw him as an option at 13.  Not saying I agree, but it will be fascinating to see how Rennie and his team see it.  13 will be one of the really interesting selections this year.

Tupea was awesome in that one game, that doesn't mean he is a good 13. He was also playing against a pretty average performing Wallabies side.

I don't expect Havilli to make the AB's this year. I suspect no 'fringe' Crusaders will make the cut. I expect us to feature in pretty small numbers at all.

I never said he was a good 13.  I literally said "first and foremost a 12" and "Not saying I agree".  However, I simply pointed out the error when you said "The few times hes been needed at 13, he has been pretty poor."  By your own admission, one of those few times actually he "was awesome".

I wouldn't count out Havili or any other Saders for the ABs.  Ironically it was Razor that ignored Havili and Blackadder.  None of us have any idea what Rennie thinks.  That's why I said "it will be fascinating to see how Rennie and his team see it".

Let's just 'let the ball come onto the bat' in terms of AB selections.

I believe, if the selectors pick on form, that the starting team will be made up mainly of Canes and Chiefs.

Both the Canes and Chiefs front rows have stood up above others.  Outside of them you have De Groot and Cody Taylor in the mix.

Lord and Vai'i will both be there. Unsure what Hollands injury update is but him and Darry are in the picture as well, and obviously Scooter is out.

Loosies should mainly come from Chiefs/Canes (embarrassment of riches) with Segner on the up, plus add in Ardie.

Roigard is head and shoulders above everybody else at 9, could be one of a few backing up there.

First five is really interesting.  I hope they stick with Love and give him some decent game time.  He is the future for me, plus there are a few other 10's starting to pop their heads up at super level.  We have to move on from all three of Beaudy, D Mac and Mounga at 10 following the World Cup next year.

Jordie will be at 12.  Tupaea will be there if his injury isn't bad.  Will be interesting to see who the other midfielders are.  I expect Proctor to be named.

Will Jordan will get there if fit, so many wingers.  Carter and Clarke most probably.  Tangitau a massive loss.

Love the Chiefs fullback, hope his injury isn't too bad.  D Mac or Jordan to wear 15.  Callum Harkin one for the future.

I know I've missed a bunch of players - fill in some blanks for me.....

Turns out the Crusaders lose games if they're penalised for being offside every now and then.

Even then they still ended up avoiding a man in the bin for repeated infringements because they decided to infringe at scrumtime instead... which is different somehow?

Blues 13+.

I'm a Canes supporter - love your confidence.  Hope you've put a shitload of money on them cos I'm sure they're playing well.  Rugby is a funny game - never know what's gonna happen.  I wish the Blues all the best tonight, as long as the best is at least one point less than the Canes 😂

I was able to watch the Hurricanes Blues game live (at home). The Blues kind of in it still at half time but maybe someone snuck some sedative into their halftime oranges?

I had to turn the sound off because the stadium music and announcer was so loud and annoying. Here’s a hint. If the players can’t hear the ref, the music is too loud and shouldn’t be playing while the ball is in play anyway. I will volunteer to hold the control if someone wants to wire electrodes to the stadium announcer’s testicles to remind him to turn the music off during play (/joking).

Should be scintillating match next Saturday.

it’s to try and make it more of a party to attract more fans. Sad day for rugby where they can’t even full the tin for a semi final

I was wondering what the Canes had in their half time water..... was a close game in the 1st half and then the canes just seemed to step up another gear...

The Blues put up a much better fight than I expected, but ultimately, the Canes ran away with it. It felt inevitable.

Roigards behaviour when he went down in a heap, and then got up absolutely fine to score that try was absolutely awful conduct. Ben o'Keefe should have called that back, and reversed the penalty

You often see players putting others in the recovery position (ala Wallace Sititi the week before), and in the face of that, Roigard pretends to be hurt and when the referee, and players from both teams are showing concern for him, he jumps up and scores. That's really gross.

There are rules in the game about sportmanship and and the spirit of the game and that was neither. I hope he is sanctioned and made an example of.  I've lost a chunk of respect for him. It reminds me of the Nik White incident a couple of years ago.

Saved the Blues from the yellow card which would have followed a review of him being taken out in the air.

That's absolutely not the point and unless your moral compass is absolutely broken, you know it too.

The right decision was Yellow Card to BB.

Roigard just shot himself to the first person on the team sheet for Rennie I bet. He would have *loved* it I'm sure.

Roigard has now caused there to be a question mark over injured players that should never exist. "Is helping this player going to result in a serious disadvantage to my team"

It wasn't quite Nick White-esq, but yeah I don't like to see that.

Yeah, agreed.  Pretty bad sportsmanship - at the very least.

And again with your ongoing vitriol about Rennie. Blood pressure OK?

It's hardly a new thing - anybody remember bloodgate?

Absolutely perfect. Has been my entire life.

You can't complain about vitirol against coaches after your campaigns against Foster and Robertson.

My regard for Roigard has dropped again, he says he doesn't regret it. Apparently he was trying to do his part to speed up the game. What a dropkick way to conduct yourself. ick.
