Earbanean:

This is silly, but yes your comment was factually incorrect.  You said the Chiefs "lost" the second half.  The score in the second half was 7-7.  That means that objectively, factually, observably, the Chiefs did NOT lose the second half. Whether one team 'had the better of the other' or 'could have gone scoreless' is a completely different thing than the score - and is subjective.

You made a mistake, I clarified it.  Move on.  Why is it so hard for you to just say "Oops yeah, you're right.  The second half was in fact a draw"?

ROFL. You really need to get over yourself.

This week ... I'm picking a comfy win to the 'canes by at least 15.  The Chiefs had a massive game last week and won't have fully recovered.  The 'canes are the consistently better side overall, playing at home and they had a reasonably leisurely hit out against the Blues.

I'm finding this absolutely  fascinating.  You'd rather move to an insult, than just admit you made a mistake and move on.  I can't imagine what work and home must be like, where stuff is actually important.  Anyway, you do you.

Yeah, I think (fear) you might be right there.  I've been calling a lot of these games as being close, but ended up being quite wrong as scores blew out.  Last week's semi in Hamilton was a classic case.  I was sure that was going to be extremely close, with 'little moments' and/or cards deciding it.  I never saw the capitulation coming.

I had thought the final should be closeish, but with a few more Chiefs injuries on top of home advantage, the Canes could run away with this.  It might start as trench warfare, but if they get a lead and the Chiefs start chasing the game, then it could blow out a bit. Glad to be wrong.

It's only a home advantage if people actually show up to the game, which Wellington doesn't seem to do.

It's totally sold out.  I hope the Welly people know how to get to the stadium.

As an Aucklander married to a Cantab I don't have a stake in the game.... both sides have earnt their place in the final and deserve to be there

Based on last weeks performance if I had to call it I think the Chiefs might have the slight edge.... but the Canes at home will be hard to beat

Chief's have lost 3 finals in a row and Canes haven't won since 2015? - who is going to be the hungrier team??

I'm not going to make any predictions and I'd be happy if either side won - I just hope it's an exhilarating game.

Chiefs haven't won since 2013 - the longest of any NZ team, and have lost 4 of the last 5 finals.  IMO that makes them the hungrier of the two, but I'm not sure that's necessarily gonna be an advantage.  The demons are lurking in their minds...

I am not sure what conclusion you draw from beat up scores week after week. I don't recall this being as common in years gone past. Even more strangely it seemed to go from team to team to team, getting a resounding beating then handing some out, to get a resounding beating.

It's also curious that the Australian teams started pretty strongly, but were no match for the Kiwi teams later in the competition. Even amoungst themselves.

As a Chiefs supporter I hope the Chiefs win. However as a realist, I believe the Hurricanes will prevail. I know they didn’t in the regular season, but that game was perhaps an anomaly.

Might be a windy night at the Tin, which will throw a spanner in the works.

And at least they have one of the world’s best refs controlling it (imo).

Once again, there are some really tasty match ups across the park for tomorrow's game.  So many effectively AB trials. Absolute classic match ups: Aumua v Taukei'aho, Jaconson v Kirifi, Love v DMac, Tupaea v Barrett, Carter v all the Canes wings.  Not an AB contest, but Dearns v Lord & Vaa'i will be entertaining and could be fairly influential on the result.

Real shame Sititi not playing, as him vs Lakai would have been classic.  A number of commentators seem to have both of them in the starting AB loose trio.  Personally, I'd only pick one (with other on the bench) as IMO we need a big 6 in test footy.  No idea how Rennie sees it, but I guess we have a feel that Jason Ryan maybe sees it that way too.

Oh YES boy! I enjoyed that a lot for so many reasons!

If the Crusaders couldn't be there, that was the absolutely next best thing.

Congrats Canes, that was some performance!

Biggest losing margin record in a grand final, and the Chiefs hold 3 of the 4 top results for biggest losing margin in finals full stop.

Dmacs worst game in a Chiefs jersey for sure.

That was the most impressive win I've seen in a Super Rugby Final. Both sides of the ball, absolutely massive. Just like last week, the bounce of the ball went to the home team.

Some great records set in that game by the canes, and unfortunately for the Chiefs, some others they would rather forget.

So not a Chiefs fan then? That’s a surprise. You hide it so well.

Well played the Hurricanes. They played like they have all season and were head and shoulders above all other teams. And once the ‘Canes got their tails up, it was all over rover. I do wish it had been a bit more of a contest, but I felt the Chiefs played their final last week.

My only grumble was when a deliberate knock on resulted in a scrum rather than a penalty and a possible yellow. Although the way the Chiefs were playing, McKenzie would probably have kicked the penalty dead anyway.

Three charge downs in the first 5 minutes. Neither Ratima or McKenzie came to grips with the wind (I think I might have mentioned the wind yesterday). Roigard and Love coped, Ratima and McKenzie didn’t. Maybe it’s time for a roof on the Cake Tin? ;-/
