afe66: Not impressed about the stadium tv influencing the Fiji try being (correctly) cancelled though.

Bad precedent.

I very much doubt that footage showing a illegal English try would have been shown quickly enough to cancel an English try before the conversion taken.

A.

Did anyone pay attention to Scotland vs Japan?

When the scots were behind and clawing to life, they "scored" a try where their player actually was out of the play area (ran too far) when he grounded. Did ref award try? Yes. Did touch judges say anything? No. Did TMO say anything? No. Did anyone show replays on the big screen? You can answer that one. Did Japan lose? You bet.

joker97: we should not start any peaking process until Tonga. What is the point of showing all your trade secrets before you need to?

I predict another messy display by a second string side agaisnt Georgia.
PS - I wonder if Slade will do 10 or at least be given full kicking duties and Barrett play 15.

And then if SH is smart he will start the best 15 every match from Tonga.

Ok according to stuff according to the assistant coach they are going to do one better, start their best team from Georgia onwards to give time to "gel". That's a good idea actually.

I agree

I don't buy this peaking talk. The aren't racehorses. They are professional sportsmen. They should be fit, they should have their skills down pat, they just need to gel.
Passing the ball flat and blindly, as you know the support player is there, taking time away from the opposition. Set plays. Gelling is the difference between two passes and then tackled, and running the opposition off their feet as they can't keep up with the ball passing.

I agree with SH with playing the best team from now on in, downside is the fairly moderate chance of injuries to any of those players, be it run on or reserve. There are four more games (assuming we get that far) before the final, I know we have depth in the reserves of our best 23 team - but after the Namibia game, I'm not too sure about the remaining eight players on tour if we have injuries to critical players in our 'best' team. I guess we'll find out.

All together now,
WALES WALES WALES!
England lucky to get away without a yellow card for repeated Rick infringements.

Who's Rick?
I thought England looked stronger, and also should have been carded for repeated infringements, but neither team was rugby-wise. Eg Wales had possession with 4 mins left. How many times did they kick it away in that last 4 mins!?!!! Or even last 10 mins!
Ref however had a totally different interpretation to the rest of his mates.

My prediction of a merry go round

Wales beat England
England beat Australia
Australia beat Wales

Anything could happen I suppose, that's why they call it pool of death

Whoever has most depth should come through. THen more depth is needed.

Pretty big result. I will say that the last penalty Wales were awarded was pretty lucky... I didn't see a clear release from the tackler.

Massive for Wales though.

In my opinion it looked like England couldnt cope with the full 80.

I fear playing wales if they are gonna kick 8/8. But the next challenge for the AB's is getting past france or ireland in QF2.

If either of those teams kick that much ball away against Australia, they will be in for a bad night

Gutsy call by the England Captain to go for the win with 4 minutes to go. I guess the difference was 2 points for a draw versus 1 for a close loss versus 4 for the win. In the pool of death, bonus points will probably decide it, so max points against the also rans will be vital.
Seeing Warren Gatland almost in tears in the post match interview brought a lump to my throat. However, I believe Ali Williams was right about the England supporters, who boos the opposition coach when he is shown on the big screen?

I hate that this competition is being held at hours so unsuitable for me :) (Yes I understand it was the opposite last time). It's making it hard to avoid the results before watching. I did manage a few times, but now given I am watching every game, I've resigned myself to knowing the results before I watch the games, something I hate.

We are in big trouble if our kicking doesn't improve. We have not been very disciplined in our past few matches and these guys who are kicking from the sideline and not missing, are making me nervous after fairly average displays by our kickers this year. DC is by far our best, if anything happens to him, we are going to be under the gun.

Hopefully BB is doing lots of practice. Alternatively, we can be more disciplined and not give away penalties :)
