http://www.radionz.co.nz/news/national/323150/nzers-travelling-to-us-may-now-face-interviews

As someone who doesn't live in Auckland, needing to do face to face interviews before traveling to the States, would effectively end my quick visits on route to Europe...

That conference I was contemplating later in year in USA.... Other conferences are available.

This is ridiculous. Watch tourism market into USA go down the toilet.

Singapore stop overs here I come.

A.

Combined with the fact that even a transit passenger through the States must meet full entry requirements.... Sheesh.

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

This is wrong reporting. I was reading this today and it's not the end of visa waiver program. It's something else altogether.

I have just received one of these waivers for my trip coming up in June. They had better not pull it out from under me....

From here:

“The Secretary of State shall immediately suspend the Visa Interview Waiver Program and ensure compliance with section 222 of the INA (Immigration and Nationality Act), which requires that all individuals seeking a nonimmigrant visa, undergo an in-person interview, subject to specific statutory exceptions,” the draft executive order states.

Note this is the Visa Interview Waiver Program. This applies to people that need visa renewal so that they don't need an interview. Trump wants to change that.

This is not the Visa Waiver Program. For more information take this from the US Embassy in the UK.

You don't have one of these. :)

The US are wanting to make changes to the Visa Interview Waiver Program (IWP) - this is a program that can waive interviews for some repeat visitors who require a visa for every visit.

This is NOT the ESTA Visa Waiver program that NZ / AU citizens (along with a lot of other countries) use for a visa waiver.

They are scrapping waiving of the interview - not the visa waiver.

Unfortunately an Australian media confused the two and now RNZ have repeated this inaccuracy.
