In terms of what you get up to for the days you are there, how much planning do you do? This is more a vacation style.
When I go with family members some of them are foodies, well I guess when people go on trips it is just relaxing, observing and eating. Some do but many don't specific interests. Like a attending a cooking course, doing a bit of camping or hiking or travel photog. I know a few of them who have done that however or joined a photography tour. I find I spend sometime researching online before I depart like where we want to spend the time just walking around, and pencil down a couple of nice restaurants for the cuisine they are into and details about which train station to get on and off to the different areas we want to see and for the few tourist attractions that are worthy of a visit. Or do any of you just turn up and ask or just stroll around and just go with the flow?
After a bit of travelling myself. I don't do so much tourist attractions now. In the past, I would pretty much go blind and visit the top spots recommended by the Lonely Planet or visit these number of temples or churches or these museums or these galleries or these flea / farmer / weekend markets.
