Qantas have just announced that their 787 premium economy is going to be "revolutionary" so it will be interesting to see what they reveal.

I would never pay for the Skycouch. IMHO it's not a product suitable for 2 adults but is perfect for an adult traveling with young kids.

I had one as a free Elite benefit last year (without the mattress as it was allocate at check-in) and while it was a step up from sitting up right in economy I'd never want to pay for it as PE is so much better. Due to the short length of the seats I had to sleep curled up and just woke up every hour or so with dead legs.

It's never worked for me either (skycouch)... Something to do with family pecking order I think... Caroline ends up getting a reasonable nights sleep while I sit bolt upright in a narrow economy seat across the aisle! :-(

We have used it twice. First time with 2 year old, 10 year old and an adult. Awesome. Second time with 4 and 13 years and adult. Not so awesome. The experience is also dependent on whether the passengers in front recline. If they do it impinges on the "bed" experience. In both cases it was great for the 2 (and now) 5 year old as he got a good nights sleep.

Official stats "With the side wall armrest up the length of the Skycouch is 1.55m (5ft 1”). And when the cushion and leg rest are combined the approx depth of the Skycouch is 74cm (29”)."

You'd have to be a dwarf (or child) to be able to lie stretched out on that, and few people who could afford it would have a 'couch' that small at home either (IMHO)
