I stick to Corporate Cabs in NZ and hotel limos or Blacklane elsewhere.

I took a Sofitel car to Saigon airport the other day. Fully specced Mercedes S500. Cost US$45. Saves messing about with Vietnamese taxis which is a hassle and a good one wouldn't be a lot less but a much less nice car to sit in the traffic in!

TaxiCaller Nordic AB has two apps in the Play Store for Green Cabs & Taxicabs. If you try them out, let me know what you think. Like you, I too want strong local competition and a decent app.

Zoomy has existed for many years. Their first business model was to simply offer an app that existing taxi companies could use - in Wellington Hutt & City taxis, Corporate and Green Cabs were all on it about 4 years ago. Drivers needed to have a phone for the app and you payed the normal metered fare.

That didn't last long as nobody cared about the concept and there were more often than not no drivers online in Wellington. They then moved on to try and become an actual Uber replacement with their own drivers.
