You can take any liquids on a domestic flight as long as it’s appropriately packaged. (Don’t take your shaving foam or deodorant without a lid, they are classed as dangerous goods and without a lid will be confiscated by security, yes that has happened and even when I was flying the plane).

Jetstar don’t let hot beverages on board, but that is more to do with the Australian Heath and Safety Laws they operate under, even when flying in NZ.

Don’t drink the alcohol, easiest way to get a visit to a police station and possibly a lifetime ban from flying with whatever airline you chose.

I don't usually bother taking anything edible/drinkable onto flights, but I have been having trouble with motion sickness the last few months.

Ginger beer works when I'm in the car, so just want to have it on hand in case I need it.

Better than taking drugs for a shortish flight.

FWIW I think JetStar prohibit hot drinks being taken on board, not sure about Air NZ

AirNZ allow BYO hot drinks in a cup with a lid. They serve them on ~1 hour or longer flights.

Unless the ginger-beer is flat I would caution against it as a motion sickness remedy in flight because any calming effect of the ginger is likely to be counteracted by the CO2 from the drink expanding with cabin altitude.
I know on AirNZ flights they are often making announcements asking people not to leave their water bottles in their bags if they are in the overhead lockers. I assume it's to prevent people getting rained on from leaking bottles.
