Disclaimer up front - I do some work with Mitre 10.

The spend Airpoints Dollars at checkout was trialed in a few stores for a while and has now been rolled out nationwide. It's also available for purchases on the website. It's pretty awesome and a bit of a gamechanger to have another way of using Airpoints Dollars directly, especially at a retailer that sells everything from muffin tins to ride-on mowers.

There's all the details on the Mitre 10 site https://www.mitre10.co.nz/airpoints

It's an absolute game changer for sure. Mitre10 is going to get a lot of our business since we have tonnes of airpoints dollars and don't find any of the stuff on the Airpoints Store to be of any value.

Great work M10.

Do not many of you actually spend your Airpoints on flights?

I try to, but I collect points through work travel and every time I seem to want to travel internationally, AirNZ is WAY (30-50%) more expensive than other leading airlines (I usually end up on Emirates if going to EU) so I can't use the Airpoints unless I want to over-spend on the value.

The amount of domestic personal air travel I do is negligible.

Cheers _ N

Nope. It's a mug's game. They make it sound attractive, and people alter their behaviour to get all the points they can, but ultimately they're worthless.

That is true about the cost of flying Air NZ though...They jack up the prices to take into account Airpoints and Status Points etc. Booking through United to go to the States is most definitely always cheaper, even though you're on an Air NZ plane anyway.

Airpoints to me are just an upgrade slush fund. I only book the occasional flight with them since it makes no sense to book flights with APD since you then don't earn any SP.

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

Tried to use airpoints to buy something via the mitre10.co.nz online site yesterday, that was a fail. Plenty of Airpoints, matching names, good logins but a random failed error with no real help. 12 hours to receive an automated "This is just a quick note to let you know we’ve received your message, and we’ll get back to you within 3 business days" email.
