I'm guessing excess water on the runway and/or visibility issues.

I'd heard it was the wrong kind of leaves on the runway.

I was on that flight. The reason given by the pilot was 'A dog on the runway".

One circuit should have been enough to get the .22 out and send it on it's way. The second circuit might have been to clean up the blood.
