Also I LOVE the way that it can take up to 72hrs for credit to appear on your card, YET when it comes to them charging you for missed tags etc, its instant.

Yeah, that one's pretty ridiculous, it's instantaneous when they're grabbing cash but takes forever when it's your money. I've had to pay cash fares because a top-up I made the previous day still hadn't been put through yet. It also makes easy management of your balance via the web site impossible because your card may be topped up but the web interface doesn't display it.

In related news, AT just reimbursed me for the transactions where I was charged twice. Only thing is I probably missed a whole lot of earlier ones, and now I'll have to check once a month or so to see if there are any more of them.

A news website had a stiry on this issue as the tag on machines at Takanini weren't working.

They will refund but only if asked for it!

You can definitely tag on at the back of the bus without any errors, I do it all the time. In fact, roughly half of all passengers tag on at the back during peak hour on the Northern Express.

The 72 hour wait isn't an issue if you have an auto top-up enabled.

Still waiting for them to prioritise bus traffic at Greville Road. The buses pull off the motorway at Greville Road and jump straight back on at Greville Road, so they avoid the bulk of the traffic. At the end of the on ramp there is a bus lane, but leading up to the bus lane is a T2 lane. The T2 lane ends near the start of the bus lane, so the buses get stuck behind all the T2 traffic trying to merge with the other congested lanes. If you changed the T2 lane to a bus lane it would make congestion worse for cars. Which would act as disincentive for drivers, and at the same time it would incentivise public transport by making the journey even faster.

Google Streetview for anyone wondering.

Yeah they ping you regardless if you're on a pass or not. They did seem to do a trial of where if you were on a pass and missed a tag but stayed within your pass allowance, it just marked it as a missed tag, but had "Pass" next to it. They seem to have stopped that again now.

When I was using the old pass I got pinged for a "missed tag off" (yet know I did tag off - I dont get on/off the bus until the thing has beeped and gone green) - I asked for refund and they refused me, only way I got my money back was by threatening them with legal action. IIRC I said that it was theft considering I had already paid for a monthly pass and yet they were taking money off me. They refunded me straight away.
