@sbiddle:

@MikeAqua:

I get it for 'free' as frequent flyer.  If it wasn't free, I don't think I would buy it - based on the comparatively poor catering in the regional lounges.

Steamed pies anyone?

The broccoli and cheese croquettes are yum. We don't get them in the main trunk lounges. :(

But they steam those as well .... WTF - why take something crispy and put it in a steamer?  They are nice when they have just left the kitchen but pretty soon go mushy in the steamer.

In the main trunk lounges you can get an evening meal so you don't have to cook when you get home late.  In the regional lounges you can get a pretty average lunch at dinner time ...

That guy is just dreaming right? I have also seen a video of some lady from Friends dreaming about the same thing.

Come off it. Nothing containing broccoli is even edible, steamed or not!

I fly very infrequently but I still find Koru worth it. My membership is up at the end of November and I have only accessed the lounge 8 times, plus with my partner 6 of those times, bringing our total entries to 12. Two of my credit cards offer the membership discount, so it'll be $484 again this year. That works out to roughly $40 per entry per person, which I am more than happy with for the food, comfort, extra baggage allowance (saved me a few times!) and showers. Plus not having to queue up!

Haha I can single handedly eat almost $500 worth of food and drinks (at airport prices) if I'm there at the right time ...

Yep, me too! Really enjoyed the LAX lounge back in December last year. Good beer selection, incredible outdoor seating area, and the tacos were on point!

Was that the WLG regional lounge? Despite my aversion to broccoli and cheese coated things in general, these proved to be actually quite delicious. Colour me converted!

You may want to check the T&C's on those credit card offers.. The fine print may spell out that it is for new members only and not renewals.

freitasm: Yes you can use LAX with Koru.

I never go through LAX anymore anyway. Vancouver is my port of entry for Canada....and the US has little appeal, especially now the police shoot you if you call them and Trump in the White House.

Koru doesn't get you into the Maple Leaf Lounge in Vancouver......unfortunately.

There are some very tiresome whingers here...

I find Koru to be a godsend when traveling locally. All those who whinge about people being slow to scan their tickets / using phones... well, try waiting 4 hours at Wellington airport to get home after your flight gets delayed. At least Koru makes it bearable.

Fine if you can afford it or your company can. Only ever been in the Koru lounge twice in my life.

Nope. All the Airpoints CC deals in NZ are for new signups and renewals. You obviously only save the joining fee once though when you sign up.
