I thought it was fairly clear. I take cash (lump sum) with me.

When you goto bank and get foreign cash out. They charge you commission and a sometimes a transaction fee. ANZ Platinum 0s this.

That's about $12-25nz on my normal withdrawls I won't need to pay now.

Just to clarify, the way I understand it - money out on a creditcard, including foreign is considered a cash advance. Interest starts from that moment. The bonus ANZ offer is simply being a card holder, the fee is waived on getting it over the counter from normal account.

But of course, using it overseas for purchases you get the normal points for amount spent (which I see now ANZ are going to match westpac $75=$1A on plat which is nice)

That is how I understood it too, they will ping you 20+% interest on the cash out and I am not keen to try it out

It's a relatively common scenario still. Even if you are with a back that supports this it won't work outside NZ with a Visa, but does with MasterCard.

My wife had the Platinum BNZ Airpoints and got an email the other day offering her a pre-approved Westpac World card with a $20,000 limit!

Westpac must have hoovered up the database from Air NZ.

Everyone I know with a GlobalPlus Platinum card who hasn't already moved away from BNZ got an email from Air NZ offering a Westpac card with a $20k limit, including me. I only have a $12k limit on my BNZ Platinum card now. I got offered Platinum not World card tho.

Air NZ obviously know what card you have had with BNZ, and maybe your credit limit and other details too, as well as if you have linked any new cards. I am guessing they have working on this deal and shared some of the data with Westpac in this land grab. I also got offered an international flight upgrade. I have no status with Air NZ, But I understand others who do have been offered an upgrade to Gold Elite, or an extra banked year of GE.

That would be cool. Always fancied Gold Elite status! SWMBO has Silver and will get to gold fairly soon I imagine as she flies Wellington/Auckland return weekly at the moment. They did offer her another 'recognition upgrade' if she signed but no status upgrades.

I think AirPoints Nothing/Silver got offered an RU, Gold's got offered Gold Elite and GE's got a banked year.
